Love these shorts, I'm a plumber and used to do only commercial so had to wear pants Dickies duck carpenter pants. And recently started doing residential so shorts are allowed and i love them. They are the equivalent of the carpenter pants but much cooler.

These shorts fit great and are the perfect length. The material is soft and does not have rough hems. The only thing I don’t like is the cut of the pockets. They go straight down rather than coming in from the side. Other than that these are perfect. I would recommend this to a friend and I would probably buy another pair.

I bought two pair of these for my husband two months ago. One pair has already had the front button snap off. His other complaint is, the pocket openings are so small he can barely get his hands in them. Sizing might be inconsistent as well. Got him 38's, his normal size, and had to send them back because he couldn't come close to buttoning them. Ordered 40's and they are way too large. So these just aren't a good match for him.

Dickies is my favorite brand for shorts like these. They wear well and have ample pockets. This particular style rides a little lower than a similar style of Dickies carpenter shorts that I usually buy, but they are still great and I like the brown color. Doesn’t show dirt as badly. And looks nice with a basic black T-shirt if I need to run to town for lawnmower parts!

They fit well, true to size. I like the pockets, especially the right side narrow one, perfect for holding this old guys reading glasses. Very good and comfortable shorts. A good value. Don’t buy them from the Dickies web site, takes forever, had these in three days from Amazon.

So the waist band is definitely a 34 for the pair I got. I'm like a 33 and a half right now so I have a little bit of room but the don't fall without a belt which is always good. I saw a lot of people saying the was was too large or too small. Keep in mind I'm wearing them where the guy in the product image is wearing them (not your actual waist). I'm 5'8" and I work out so my legs and ass a little bigger therefore these a slightly tighter on my hips and the end of the short lands just below the bend of my knee but they seem to have loosened up a little bit since I put them on this morning so maybe I need to break them in; I washed them before wearing them as well. The pockets are pretty awful, I mean they're deep which is fine but they're tight as hell get your hand into which could be great if you plan on working upside like a bat and don't want your phone falling out. Now, being an automotive tech you could say it's silly to buy carpenters shorts but lets face it, shorts are shorts...I'm saying this because I have had the regular work shorts from Dickies before and they're much more comfortable, I would recommend the work short over these - or go to a Sears or Work N Gear and try them all before you save the money by getting them on Amazon like the rest of the world :-p
