  • Great for not having to worry about batteries and pretty accurate as you can see
Got this as a supplement to my high end unit. And as you can see in the pictures, basically measuring the same and for my use it’s perfect. I got this so I had a unit that I didn’t have to worry about any kind of a battery failure and not so high-end so in rougher situations, I can grab it instead of my high-end units. But much nicer than the cheaper plastic units that I have . Looks like it’s a good spot and balance between price and performance also seems pretty darn accurate. I didn’t get really picky So I did not pull out my micrometer to check the really high tolerances, but it seems to do what it says. Looks like it’s pretty darn close to its accuracy claims as you can see the picture for my use excellent. The only slight negative is it’s pretty hard to read as far as the increments on the actual rule itself. You have to kind of count on both inches and millimeters but that’s a small annoyance at this point but not enough for a losing a star. ... show more

  • Good to one thousandth
I have a few of the inexpensive plastic digital calipers. They measure to a hundredth of an inch. This registers to a thousandth of an inch. It is stainless steel and quite sturdy. It did take a short while to understand how it represents its measurements. When compared to my micrometer measurements I found it accurate to a thousandth. In comparing it to the plastic version I made an interesting observation. The plastic calipers always round down. By that I mean a measurement of 2.342 on this dial caliper will, as expected, show as 2.34 on the plastic caliper. However, the measurement of 2.349 still shows as 2.34 on a plastic caliper, not rounded up. ... show more

  • -1 star as dial cover screw was loose in the bag, no manual, took a while to sus it out.
I got this (dial-type) out of curiosity. I needed another caliper at another workstation and thought I would try it. It ends up being respectably well-made and accurate against my others. It lost a star because there is no manual included. Maybe it is me, but I did not know how to zero it. Then I noticed a screw in the bag (which was already in the trash). Trying to figure where it went lead me to understand that it prevents the dial cover from rotating (which is how you zero it). Like someone said, it is not a hammer. Comes in a suitable case, and overall very nice. ... show more

  • No manual
This dial caliper did not come with a manual. Although I know how to read a standard Vernier caliper, this dial caliper is different and requires detailed information. For example, the caliper showed a negative value when I initially closed the calipers, but subsequently zeroed itself on its own. After fiddling with it some more, I realized that the dial cover can be rotated to zero the pointer. How would I know that if there is no manual. I believe that all precision instruments should come with a manual. It isn’t a hammer. ... show more

  • Item is as described
Well made and seems to be very accurate. I have a battery version and I like that this doesn't need batteries to use.

  • Great micrometer
This is built sturdy, from solid stainless steel, feels heavy in the hand. The carrying case is light-duty, but protects the caliper well.

  • Very Accurate Measurements
Perfect tool for getting accurate measurements in the shop.

  • Worked great for 3 minutes
Unfortunately, the device broke before I could really use it. I began testing it and was pleasantly surprised at the accuracy. I compared measurements against another (much more expensive) caliper I own and the results were identical. All was well until I tried measuring at it's outer limit of 6 inches; at that point it seemed to slip a gear, like the teeth didn't engage for just a moment. When back in it's fully closed position, it no longer read 0. Worse, there is no real way to calibrate (by loosening the turnscrew and rotating the dial) because the two needles are in different positions. ... show more
