  • Great bed for a kid or skinny adult. Read on for more
Color: Black Size: Twin Pattern Name: Bed
Great bed for a kid or skinny adult. For more moderately fluffy and fun sized such as myself, or more I would not suggest it. I bought this for my 9 yr old and he loves it. I did what others suggested and took pool noodles and cut them up. However you might want to try pipe insulation instead as the pool noodles are inner cut too big as well as being too thick so no matter how tight you get the zip ties around them, it’s not going to grip the bar, making it spin if you move wrong. However that hasn’t been an issue with my kid at all but may be for some. I got a cheap rgb led strip and put behind it and wow it looks cool. Definitely better than the $3500 loft mansions they sell to people at rooms to go kids. Yeah of course wood is going to be better, but considering it’s for a kid so they are going to use it eh.. maybe until they are 15 max? And if you have to break the thing down to move that’s an extra back ache. That might be brilliant but I like this better. It does the job for cheap, looks cool, gives a kid the same happiness, and at the end of the day isn’t bad or hard to move… Now with that being said the initial uhh.. box your gonna either need a second person to move it, or your going to have to take it out in pieces and leave the box where it is till you get about half of it out the box. What I ended up doing is using a rug under it to move it through the house to his room. It does wobble a little but not crazy and it’s easy enough to remedy with some cheap shelving and screws. Just take one of those cheap a la carte shelving pieces from Home Depot or Lowe’s, cut them into triangles, use a bit to drill through the metal tubing and then screw in the triangles on the corners. That will stiffen it up a LOT. The other idea I had for the near future is to make the whole bottom back into a desk via same shelving but instead of cutting out triangles get one that is the length of the frame, cut notches in it to fit around the poles on each side then screw down into the poles along the bottom length edge of the shelving: ... show more

  • Great bed, less great ladder
Color: Black Size: Full Pattern Name: Bed
Bought this for a studio apartment to maximize space and it works great! Lots of space underneath and the design looks sleek and unobtrusive. I got a 12” mattress and definitely recommend getting a thinner mattress—the top of mine hits exactly on the tops of the bars, so it would be very easy to roll off. My one complaint is the ladder—as others have mentioned in the reviews, the bars are thin and very hard on feet. I cushioned them with insulator foam but still find it difficult to feel safe when getting up and down and find that the bed shakes a lot when using the ladder, so I opted to buy a large stepladder to use instead. Other than climbing up and down, the bed is pretty sturdy even when not bolted to the wall. ... show more

  • Fantastic Product, I would but it again if I had need for a second loft
Color: Black Size: Full Pattern Name: Bed
I’m going to try to include a very thorough review. I purchased this in early February and I’ve now been sleeping on it for over a month. It arrived earlier than the earliest expected shipping date, which was wonderful. It came in a box around 7 feet long and over a foot wide by less than a foot deep. Quite heavy and because of how long it is, I don’t recommend trying to slug it inside alone. I’m fairly fit but I’m also 5’4” so trying to manhandle a box this size alone would not have been great. Once opened, the contents are all labelled very clearly. The instruction book is clear enough to get the loft assembled, although one issue I encountered is that in the earlier parts of the instructions, some parts are depicted in the pictures that don’t get attached until later steps. I would say glance through the whole book first to have a sense of what goes on when. I had my father helping me assemble this, and after glancing through, we could mostly operate without it. It served to reference which screws we used at which times. The hardware pack comes separated and labelled, however do not peel the whole backing off. The parts are labelled on the front side of the backing so if it is torn off in pieces, you won’t be able to tell which pieces are what. The instruction pictures don’t 100% clearly depict the screw lengths beyond what letter they are labelled as and a couple of the sizes are very similar. Having a second person was the easiest way to assemble this. If I had been one person, it would have been a great deal tougher. Even just having a second person who can hold the structure up so it can be assembled upright made this far easier than any alternative. Getting into the actual building, it took my father and I a bit over 2 hours, we used power tools and not the hand tools the hardware comes with. Regardless of whether or not you have power tools, do not tighten things up until the end of assembly. There were a couple times my father and I had to go back and loosen something a bit so we could get the holes of another area to line up. All the pieces are made to fit exactly, so when one area receives tension before another, it alters the shape just enough to throw off alignment. This is normal for tubular metal. It does not mean there is a defect. We built this in a 10x10 bedroom with some furniture all pushed to one side giving us a 7x10 workspace or so. It was a bit to maneuver sometimes, I would say this is the smallest floor space one can build this in. Any smaller and we might not have been able to move ourselves and the pieces as needed. Now that is is together, its wonderful. It does wobble, but tubular metal naturally has give to it. Its not a scary amount of shaking so long as one doesn’t try to move too fast. I’ve been on it over a month now and its quite comfortable. The bar supports are nice but I do have a thin plywood sheet on top to go directly under my bed. I have a memory foam mattress and didn’t want to risk the bars creating strange indents. For a regular spring mattress, they’re probably just fine. The rungs do hurt my feet a small bit but not enough to warrant needing to cover them, and my boyfriend feels the same way. I weigh something like 150 pounds and my boyfriend weighs something like 170 and we can both comfortably sleep on this bed. It doesn’t feel like it will collapse under us, nor does it shake too much. My apartment is less than 250 square feet and this loft has helped dramatically with increasing space. I keep my hope chest, dresser, and clothes divider hamper underneath it. I do have to duck under it and I’m 5’4”, its around 5’ clearance. I could see having a desk or chair underneath this and working out well, which was my original plan. All in all, for $200, this is an excellent purchase. I may attach some pictures at some point. ... show more

  • It's really tall!
Color: Black Size: Full Pattern Name: Bed
Make sure you read the dimensions and measure the room you plan to use it! Luckily my daughter's bedroom is pretty standard and it fits but she is super close to the ceiling! She absolutely loves it however. So if it's a basement room or a short ceiling situation it might not be as cozy. Measure twice! Order once! Overall it is sturdy and the black paint is shiny and well protected during shipping. All of those star bolts got annoying so I used a battery screw gun but be careful in tight spots! Use the tool and not a gun so you don't have to use one of the spare bolts because you stripped it. ... show more
