  • This is working out quite well! So far I'm happy with it. So much better than what i had.
Color: Silver
The price was right. And although there are a few bad reviews, there are a lot of good ones. I also saw this frame recommended on another site that was reviewing futon frames, "The Sleep Judge." It was #5, but number 1 was too expensive, number 2 was another DHP frame that wouldn't work for me, number 3 and number 4 were twin size chairs and expensive, and then there was this one. So when i saw it went on sale, i got it. I'm glad I did. It's working out well. It took a while to put together, but i would not say it was difficult. There were a lot of screws. Just stay organized about it. (I used my own hex tool which made it a bit easier) There was one part where the picture didn't match very well to the product, and I ended up having to redo something, but it didn't take long. Just pay really close attention to the drawings. Because this futon frame is lightweight, I would not suggest it for anyone who might be giving it a lot of punishment. I would also suggest, contrary to what the top reviewer says, do not use a power screwdriver unless you are very careful. I had no problem using a regular screwdriver to install all the screws. They do say that when the futon is pulled out in bed mode not to sit or lie on the very edge. I would say that would be more of a problem for a heavier person, but it's an issue of balance. Since they don't know the weight of the person purchasing it, they make the warning. (again, this is a lightweight frame.) If you have a thick futon mattress with coils/foam that doesn't fold easily, then there is a learning curve to getting this to go back into the couch position. At first i thought I would never be able to do it. (I still would have been better off than the old frame I had). But after some experimenting and practice, I can get it folded every day in a matter of seconds and I'm a 5 foot 4 inch woman. You need to stand on the side of the futon where the arm rest is. Grab the top of the "backrest" part of the mattress and push it forward like your pushing the mattress into a folded position, then grab the seat part of the frame and pull up toward the "backrest" part of the mattress. If this doesn't pop the frame into couch position, then let go of the mattress and grab the "backrest" part of the frame and pull it toward the "seat" part of the frame so the seat and backrest of the frame are forming a "V", then rock the whole thing forward (toward the seat side) and it should fall into position. It works for me every day. ... show more

  • This is definitely a need.
Color: Black
Just like everything else that you build, if you follow the direction as directed this will be an easy build. It can get a little tough, if you don't have the patience to follow directions. But if you do, you will love it. Trust me. My family enjoys having it.

  • Reasonable Assembly and Feels Sturdy
Color: Black
I received this frame in a compact box and put it together myself (single woman without power tools). While putting it together, I was initially frustrated by the difficulty in getting the small screws to fit into some of the holes in the support bars, and thought I needed power tools to complete the job, but I just happened to try a more sturdy Phillips head screwdriver in my toolkit and that did the trick perfectly. It took probably 2-3 hours total for me to assemble (the instructions aren't necessarily the clearest in terms of orientation of the bars/pieces), but I was able to do so fine. Keeping in mind that I have an average body frame and not the strongest arm muscles, the fact that I was able to put this together using only the tools provided plus a Phillips head screwdriver should give you some indication of whether it's reasonable for you to expect to do the same. PROS: Feels sturdy and is comfortable to sit on with a good mattress. Not the easiest assembly, but still doable for the average person without power tools. Once put together, easily bends/transforms between couch and bed as needed. I haven't tested out the comfort/feel of the sleeping position, however, so if I find issues, I will update. CONS: the side pieces (I won't call them arm rests because they aren't necessarily used in that way) had some scratches on them. The metal is painted black but you will probably see some small/medium silver scratches on the side pieces, and you can't hide them if they happen to be on a side that is facing up/out. This is somewhat disappointing, but given the price of the frame and the fact that my only couch is a futon, I'm not really concerned about it as I have resigned myself to living out the "college student" lifestyle for a year. If those scratches bother you enough, you may consider spray painting in black over the scratches. Chances are, if you're buying this frame, you aren't necessarily going for the classiest look or you'd be buying a real couch bed. Overall, the frame feels sturdy. Worth the price and manageable assembly, but minus one star for the scratches on the side pieces. **However, I think it is important to note that I have not tested the frame with anyone over 150 pounds.** ... show more

  • Great
Color: Grey
I had rotator cuff issues so only one arm to assemble this by myself. I did it alone with one arm in 2.5hrs. So u should be able to do this in a fraction of the time. Directions r good. If u can’t assemble this i feel bad for u lol. Its sturdy and solid. Material is nice a quality metal. I like it. Would buy another if ever needed to. ... show more
