Description

The DEWALT DW089K Line Laser features multiple design enhancements to improve productivity on the job site. The DW089K is ideal for professionals tasked with residential and commercial applications such as installing cabinets, drop ceilings, chair rails or doors and windows. Unlike many line lasers on the market, the DW089K features a second plumb line that forms a 90-Degree intersecting line on the floor and ceiling. This third vertical beam allows contractors to use the tool for layout applications without the need for a second laser, saving time and allowing users to be as productive as possible. For commercial wall layout applications, the DW089K has a track clearance of over 1-3/4-Inch, which means there is no need for additional accessories to raise the laser over drywall track. This Line Laser also has a micro adjust knob for easy alignment, a metal roll cage for durability, and an integrated pivot bracket and universal wall mount that is ideal for acoustical ceiling installation. The micro adjust knob is especially important in that it allows users to steadily adjust the 90-Degree layout lines in small increments without the need to nudge the laser to hit a specific mark. For improved visibility, the beam on the DW089K is two-times brighter than the beam on DEWALT's current line laser. The brighter beam provides increased visibility over long distances as well as in direct sunlight. Accurate within 1/8 of an inch at 30-Feet, the DW089K allows contractors to feel confident in their results when using this product. To alleviate the difficulty professionals often experience when they try to access control panels on the rear of existing units. This is a Class 2 laser product, Power output ≤ 1.5mW.

You can go less expensive and still get pretty good quality. However, nothing with a beam this strong (at least from the solid red lines options). Indoors it can span any room from end to end. For a the extra cost you get: stronger beam, a 3rd plane, fine tune micro-adjustment for the vertical alignment, a magnetic mount, and a another type of clamp mount for more versatility. Very convenient and endless uses for little effort. For any type of construction, it adds instant value and will pay for itself quickly. Even as a weekend warier it is worthwhile. You can even level pictures all at the same time for the entire room in one setup. I used it last weekend to install a new door frame and was able to get the layout dead on. It doesn't make me any faster but it makes my work look better. Fine-Tune for Vertical Alignment is worth the cost alone: I never before realized until using it, the micro-adjustment vertical alignment is an absolute must for certain applications. Say you are putting in a tile floor - you need to control the vertical alignment plane to dissect on the correct source location as well as the target location. What are you going to do, move the tri-pod, move the device to zero in on your target? There is no moving to fine tune for the target without effect the source location as well. There is no way to control and fine tune for one variable without throwing off the other. You end up spending more time than is warranted or learn to live with in-exact results. This is when the vertical find adjustment becomes a life saver - you can tune the target location without moving or impacting the source location. Now your 1/8" variant becomes that much more precise because you can at least factor out error in proper placement. I wish it also had another fine-adjustment control for horizontal plane for those times when you don't use a tripod but that is minor grip in comparison to the vertical control. ... show more

  • Awesome Tool
Style: Red Line Laser
After tossing a few cheapie laser levels from failure or inaccuracy, I decided to get something more pro-grade for my next DIY project. Wow, am I ever glad I did! This is a phenominal pro-grade level. Its self-leveling, which is so nice, makes it go from beam on the wall to an actual usable tool! Mine was not out of square at all. The unit paints horizontal and vertical lines everywhere but directly behind it. Its as close to 360 degrees as I need and can afford. I would like 360, but its hundreds more. On angles it flahses its beam more slowly, I actually found this helpful, angles always make me think long and hard before committing, so the decreased distraction was appreciated. The unit attaches magnetically, with clamps and screws on to a tripod (I used my camera tripod). The laser is exceptionally bright! I worked with it in daylight and was able to see the lines perfectly. My cheapies from the past required me to wear laser-enhancing glasses to see the beam in most situations. The unit comes in a very sturdy injection-molded case. I am not sure I could be happier with this purchase...highly recommended for those not needing 360 degrees. ... show more

  • Big time saver
Style: Red Line Laser
As an A/V company we install speakers, access points and other items in and on ceilings in clients homes. The laser with the cross lines that project onto the ceiling allow us to line up with and square with ceiling cans or other existing fixtures. Not having to measure 15' or more to a wall while standing on a ladder 12' off the floor makes jobs go much quicker. Also like the ability to rotate the lines without having to move the unit, it takes a few moments for it to stable use after you move (self leveling) Because we are residential the magnetic clamp is not of any use. The only issue is the tripod socket on the bottom of the unit is not on a flat surface so mounting it to a quick release tripod adapter does not work out. Not that big of issue, just bought a cheap tripod. Mich less expensive then having a helper on the job just to hold the other end of the tape. ... show more

  • the best of its kind! calibration dead on!
Style: Red Line Laser
first of all this is also a laser plumb bob! at the time i purchased this nothing online had really specified it being able to be used as a laser plumb bob... it makes a cross hair on the floor and on the ceiling which is what i needed more than any of its other features, I almost did not purchase this until i watched an online video of someone using it as a laser plumb bob! that's the great thing about this laser its like an all in one laser! it does wall grid square, ceiling square and can even be used as a giant floor square! it shoots lasers everywhere everything has a laser on it! and they are all square, level and plumb! what i purchased it for mainly was to do custom wall framing what i mean by that is like for basements and other areas where you cant really stand up a pre built wall and it saves hours and hours of time! occasionally other projects the beauty of this laser is its so fast to set up( like 2 min) so it becomes more practical than the old way of doing things before lasers came out... can be used as a chalk line too! what i noticed: the magnet on this thing could pick up a car! its good in a way but in another way its so ungodly strong im always afraid the bracket holding the tool will break trying to remove it from a metal surface... the case it comes in is awesome! perfect and has room for spare batteries there is no pendulum lock i have no idea why they didn't include it every other laser dewalt makes has it but this one so why? I have no idea why some people say its not calibrated mine was within 1/8" at 30' or even less im sorry if that happened to you ... show more
