It passed the bolt head test
Style: New
This blade did a nice job cutting through the head of a 1/4" lag bolt. It continues to cut cedar but is showing signs of distress. I will buy this same blade again but I do fear it may have an affinity for bolts.

Very clean cut, but can't withstand nails
I used this blade to cut some installed 3/4 oak hardwood flooring in place with my DSC391 circular saw, about 40". Since the "show face" was facing up (vs. the typical down for circular saws), and the cut would be visible, I was greatly concerned of tear-out. I also made track for the circular saw out of scrap MDF, with the saw cutting through the track (both for alignment and to further minimize tear-out). The cut was very clean, with absolutely minimal tear out. However, I encountered a few flooring nails while doing the cut. Most just caused a bit of sparking, but one stubborn nail tore off a few carbide teeth and refused to be cut. I reverted back to the construction grade blade that came with the saw (which did short work of the nail) and got back to this blade to finish the cut. The lost teeth didn't seem to have affected the cut quality for the rest of the cut. I know that it's a compromise in design and materials (with the different grades of carbide playing a role here), and finishing blades shouldn't be abused like that, but my experience with carbide saw blades was always that the stray nail won't harm them. I was a little disappointed with this. At the end of the day, this blade preformed well for making a clean cut. Just be careful not to cut nails with it. ... show more
