  • Great 👍🏼
Style: NEW - 20V MAX XR Impact Driver Kit
Bought it about 2 years ago now, has never let me down and I use it every single day for scrape plates, plate frames, trunk screws and even for home work. The batteries make the gun have way more balls then you need for little screws or plastic fasteners so be careful to not keep it on 3 or 2. Batteries are also interchangeable with other dewalt guns and vice versa. Batteries also last me about a month each before I have to charge them. I absolutely love this quarter inch gun and I will continue to use it everyday over my Milwaukee or snap on guns. It’s everything you need to get small - medium jobs done. Perfect for beginner technicians or at home users, who do a lot of home - work or side work. Would recommend to a friend. 10/10 ... show more

  • Great compact power all day
Style: NEW - 20V MAX XR Impact Driver Kit
I generally buy Milwaukee or Dewalt system tools because they are available locally and they both have systems that are uniformly excellent and well supported. Along with my miter saw, I use my drill driver and my impact driver most out of all my cordless tools. I recently started upgrading my cordless tools from 18v to 20v and went with Dewalt because most of my old tools were Dewalt. My old tools still get work done and I could use 20v adapters on my old Dewalt 18v tools to extend the time to replace those, so I stayed with Dewalt. The first purchase was the 791 drill driver, which I immediately loved for it's ergonomics, small form factor, light weight and long run time on a 2Ah battery. After that experience, the impact driver was the next logical thing to replace. I had an upcoming deck replacement, so I bought this little 787 with the 4Ah batteries. There's really no fun way, outside of fire, to remove old deck boards that had been screwed down decades ago. You can muscle them off, cut them off, disassemble them or a combination of all three. I elected to disassemble them, to later avoid hitting cut screw shanks or tearout voids with the new Trex connectors that were going in. This little guy had to work hard to unwind close to 1500 rusty screws on a 600 square foot deck. The result? Awesome. This thing unzipped screws all day before needing a charge. Some of those screws it had to hammer at for 10-15 seconds to get them to break loose, so this was no cake walk. The LED light was awesome for finding sunken screw heads as daylight waned and the belt hook was great for hanging the impact on my belt as I moved around. When reconstructing portions of the framing of this deck, I had to run a series of lags and even at the end of the day, this thing zipped them in like it would break them off before it ran out of torque. One thing to note is the move to brushless motors. Brushless motors are noticeably more efficient and if you are on the fence about replacing perfectly good older tools, this feature alone may make it worth the switch. I really notice the effect of the brushless motors most on the bigger tools, like the reciprocating and circular saws. My older tools run down even the bigger 20v batteries much faster than the new brushless version of the tools. To sum it up, this is a very impressive little impact driver in a kit that gets you two 4Ah batteries to boot. It's a solid buy. I love it. The Milwaukee M18 Fuel driver looks to be every bit as good, so I think it boils down to if you're already red, go red, and if you're already yellow, go yellow. The 787 won't disappoint. ... show more

This tool has made screwing stews and structural screws so much easier and faster than a normal drill. It is well worth the money.

  • Much more powerful than I expected - plus some help to determine which system to buy
Style: NEW - 20V MAX XR Impact Driver Kit
A note to help with some of the confusion with all of the DeWalt cordless tool choices. There are several choices and the differences are not obvious so this will help... All of them are essentially 18 Volt systems. They call the 20V Max systems "20V" just to distinguish them as being different than the lower capacity cells in the 18V systems. Its just harder to say "18V, high capacity" than it is to just say "20V". All of them are around 20V when fully charged with no load. System designator - difference 18 Volt - 18 nominal volts but lower capacity cells. Brushed motor. I.E. (Lowest run time, lowest power, lowest efficiency) 20 Volt Max - 18 nominal volts but higher capacity cells. Brushed motor. I.E. (higher run time than the 18V line, similar power, similar efficiency) 20 Volt Max XR - 18 nominal volts but higher capacity cells. Brushless motor. I.E. (highest run time, highest power, highest efficiency) I believe the XR driver has multiple speeds and the others are just single speed. However, I never have used any of the lower speeds since it has a variable speed trigger that allows me to slow it down if I need to. I have been using the XR drill for about a year but I wanted a driver so I didn't have to change bits in and out between drilling and driving screws. I didn't realize how much faster these will drive a screw in. The peak rpm is much higher than the drill but the impact function gives it more torque for driving also. Just to test it I drove a screw into a 4x4. Using a long driver bit I was able to drive the screw all the way through the board and out the other side without any problem at all. That is very impressive for this size of a tool. Also, the batteries are very expensive if you buy them separately. If I remember correctly, just buying the batteries and charger that come with this driver would cost more than this product so keep that in mind when you need batteries. You can always sell a spare driver on EBay or Craig's List. ... show more

  • Makes Potentially Difficult Work Very Easy to Perform!
Style: NEW - 20V MAX XR Impact Driver Kit
The amazing DeWalt impact driver was used to disassemble a wooden, 19-step outdoor staircase using 4x12-inch lumber for the stringers and steps. The staircase used 304 screws and L-shaped brackets (8 screws per bracket) to fasten the steps to the stringers. And many more screws for the railing. The DeWalt Impact driver readily removed the screws effortlessly, often holding the driver with one hand. The driver is compact and lightweight, truly a miracle device. Very easy on the hand and the wrist. Used the smaller 2.0 Amp batteries for their smaller size and less weight. A battery charge operated for a very acceptable duration. Perhaps three charges for the full staircase demolition. I would award this driver the "Tool of the Year." ... show more
