    • 2004 Trailblazer kit... the brackets provided are not correct

I was replacing a couple of seized up front calipers on a 2004 Chevy Trailblazer. I ordered this set after verifying they were a match for my vehicle, the website confirmed the kit is completely compatible. However, I discovered the brackets provided (calipers attach to them) are incorrect for my vehicle. The provided brackets held the disc brake pads up too high at least 1/4" above the rotor. The brackets are absolutely incorrect for my vehicle. I removed them and put the original brackets back on and used the calipers provided in the kit which are a perfect fit. I'm very happy with the calibers, they are smooth, powerful, and release very nicely. This entire kit is not correct for a 2004 Trailblazer LT, but the calibers are and they are very good quality parts. ... show more

These fit great, and after install, they performed like OEM - they even have Ford logos, making me think they are either remans or otherwise very similar to OEM - as far as I could tell they were indistinguishable. Either way, for $100 for a pair, they are a tremendous value and gave me good piece of mind when my factory calipers on my 2018 escape AWD were starting to stick. Install was a cinch, just a few bolts, which if you're doing pads and rotors is barely any extra work. The hardest part is bleeding the brakes after. My only complaint - is that the passenger and driver side caliper came with different size bleeder screws - this was different than OEM - my driver size replacement took a 10mm wrench, and the passenger side took an 11mm wrench (both OEM front calipers took a 10mm wrench). Functionally, this doesn't seem to matter, but it did throw me off for a second and make me wonder if I was doing something wrong - but ultimately I'm happy with the product and I'd recommend these. ... show more

I was a professional auto mechanic in the mid seventies through the late eighties and went on to become a journeyman tool maker / engineer for over twenty years. I’m impressed with the quality of this product. I can’t speak on the long term IE 30 k miles .

Defective part and the worst customer service experience The caliper I received had defective threads where the bracket bolts into the knuckle. I immediately contacted Detroit Axle, provided pictures, and explained the issue. They approved the return and sent me a return label, even though this was already outside their return window. The most frustrating part is how much time and effort this company has spent arguing with me instead of simply standing behind their word. The amount of employee time spent sending repetitive responses, changing explanations, and going back and forth over a refund was likely worth more than the actual refund they refused to issue. I was told in writing that once they received and inspected the returned caliper, I would receive a refund back to my original payment method. Based on that confirmation, I proceeded to purchase another part from them. After I returned the defective part, their explanation changed multiple times: first it was “exchange only,” then “outside the return window,” and finally that the part was “used” even though they knew it had been installed before they approved the return. I am now left without the part and without my money. They are offering another replacement part even though they know I already purchased another one because of this issue. A company’s true customer service is shown when something goes wrong, and Detroit Axle failed completely. Save yourself the frustration and buy elsewhere. ... show more
