    • HORRIBLE EXPERIENCE - remanufactured part in terrible condition
So I finally got around to trying to put this axle in my truck. Unfortunately, when I opened the package, I saw that this was clearly a remanufactured axle. Neither the product description nor the product title ever say it is a remanufactured axle. Also, the product photos show a brand new aftermarket axle and a new spindle nut (the axle I got also did not come with a spindle nut). Because I had already started the fairly large job and had the wheel off, the control arm out, and the stabilizer bar end link off when I finally opened the package, I decided I needed to give the remanufactured axle I received a try anyway. Unfortunately, after spending a lot of effort cleaning the heavily sprayed paint off of the splines, I saw that there were large gouges in the outer splines. Those gouges wouldn’t allow the splines to slide into the hub splines, so I tried to clean the gouges up with a file...for hours. That didn’t work either. Also, I’m pretty sure the axle was missing a circlip, because the axle actually came “dislocated” when pulled linearly. I’ve never seen that happen before in my life. After spending about 4 hours trying to make this hunk of garbage work, I eventually had to go to Autozone and buy a new aftermarket axle. That new axle fit in with no problem. This product was a falsely advertised nightmare, and the seller is completely unwilling to refund me. They have offered store credit. However, this is the second part I've ordered from Detroit Axle, and this is the second time I received a damaged, terrible quality part. The first time was a control arm that came with a busted ball joint boot. I contacted Detroit Axle, and they agreed to send me a replacement, but getting that replacement took more than a month -- they kept telling me that they didn't have one in stock (even though they still had a Prime listing for one) and told me to call each week on Tuesday to check if they got one in stock. Fast forward to today -- I am writing my first ever product review, because this was such a horrible experience. I had to take time out of my life to reach out to Amazon customer service and get an Amazon credit through them. Amazon is apparently also going to open and investigation into the listing for this product. Please do yourself a favor and just spend the $120 on a new aftermarket axle from someone else. The seal was bent and I have to use other seal from the old axle. Beside then everything is good. I think is delivery 🚚 people might drop them on the ground hard.
