Description

Drawing on two decades of compensation experience, Sal DiFonzo explores how to transition a firm from a traditional discretionary plan to a contemporary structured incentive compensation plan. The issues in this process can be complex, but DiFonzo simplifies them by taking the reader step-by-step through the rationale behind creating a structured incentive compensation plan, each phase of the creation process, and expert strategies for solving the issues that invariably arise with changes to compensation. While examples are drawn from the design and construction industry, firms from all industries seeking to drive strategy, engage employees and achieve success will find this book to be a valuable guide. • The most useful business book I have read in years!
I run a complicated business with over 85 employees in many different job roles, most of which are field based. We have struggled for years to design a non discretionary incentive program to get everyone marching towards the same goal. Thanks to this book we finally have one. This book lays out the argument for a structured incentive plan, provides concrete examples and a step by step guide to getting it done. Buy engaging a number of employees from various departments in the design, we were able to launch a successful plan in 30 days. The author, Sal was nice enough to meet with me, review our plan and provide suggestions to make it even better. I absolutely recommend this book for anyone looking to replace the “Christmas Bonus “ with a more meaningful plan. ... show more

  • A very good book for Incentive compensation plans
There are many compensation books out there but Sal Difonzo understands the big picture and lays it out in a clear, interesting, and approachable manner. One can read the entire book rather quickly and digest the many usable ideas on strategic engagement of employees and writing successful incentive compensation plans. We found the information invaluable when writing our newest comp plan. I would recommend it for anyone trying to improve performance within organizations. ... show more
