The table and chair ensemble arrived on the day promised. Packing was excellent, protecting the pieces from damage during shipping. No assembly is needed; the three pieces are fully assembled as delivered. To unpack, do not try to lift out of the box. Instead, unpack the protective boards and styrofoam pieces from the top, then break the box down by tearing the cardboard at the corners, folding the four sides down to the floor. Roll the chairs out, then lift and slide the table out. Unlike a comment in another review, all of the faux book bindings appear to be painted on, not stick-on graphic pieces. There is storage under the two seat cushions, as well as the pictured storage in the table base. The MDF used is high density, giving a feeling of substantial solid board, and not lightweight particle board. Each chair has three small knobs that are helpful in pulling them from under the table. They are adequately comfortable, but probably not good for all-day sitting. The small wheels catch on carpet, so do not try to move the chairs while sitting in them; trying to do so results in tipping back instead of rolling. When I ordered this set I was a little concerned about all of the gold on the faux books. In the photo it seemed that it might be gaudy BUT it is not NOT NOT tacky at all. The colors are much more muted and the table top is just beautiful; it's that deep mahogany burled wood (I don't know the exact name for it) finished to a rich gloss. The chairs are upholstered in a really lovely fabric and there is great deal of storage in each of the chairs' base as well as the generous cabinet in the base. I just love it and can't wait break out games! and the oval top is roomy enough to accommodate games with lots of pieces (like Monopoly money) and still leave room for snacks and drinks. I bought a wood turntable for the top to allow for turning games like Scrabble and it will be great for setting flowers when not gaming. The chairs have wheels (that can't be seen) so it is perfect on my wood floor. When it arrived all that needed to be done was unpack the box so there is no assembly necessary. ... show more

    • It is what we expected, good quality and a perfect fit in our home
We liked the set becouse it's out of the ordinary and had the perfect coner in our home. We use it as a chess and game table. The chessboard is displaed and cards and other games asre stored in the storage area below. Ordering the set through amazon was a breeze, not so the delivery. It came in a huge truck with no lift gate, so the driver that came alone, told us we had to help him bring the box down, or he'll take it away and we should ask for delivery in a truck with liftgate and it was going to cost us $200 extra. (we already payed +/_ that amount for shipping). Finally we convinced him to open the box on the truck, and that it would be easier to unload by pieces. The packaging was very good, the three pieces came fully protected. If you are going to buy this set, do so with confidence, but make sure to have the shipping and delivering details taken care of. ... show more

I had been looking at this piece of furniture for several years and finally decided to purchase it after reading others reviews. It arrived right on time and almost looked as I expected. It is put together nicely and a very unique piece but I'm not sure it is actually worth the price. I also wish I would have known more details about the type of wood and other materials used to construct the piece. Some of the materials used to design the look for the books is peeling up in a few corners and there are tiny little wheels on the bottom of the chairs that do not work the best on carpet. I am still very pleased I purchased the piece but don't have the warm fuzzy feeling I had initialy. ... show more

Love the design, not so impressed with the craftsmanship quality. Easy to mar over all. The finish on table top is subpar. Overall I would recommend product, but definitely not at full price. This table is life. The seats are rather stiff and uncomfortable, but I threw a thick blanket on it and that was fine. It's not really meant as a comfort chair so that's not an issue. As far as being an awesome-looking and convenient chair/table set, this takes the cake. It looks great, the size is lovely, the little storage box is thin but a nice addition, and overall it's a really cool piece. I would definitely recommend it. ... show more
