  • A great self-contained endoscope
I admit that I am a fan of this company. At first it was because of their great products but most recently it is because of their technical support – more about that later. This product (DEPSTECH Dual Lens Inspection Camera, Endoscope with 5" IPS LCD Screen, 7.9 mm HD Borescope, Sewer Camera with LED Flashlight, 32 GB, 5000 mAh Battery, Carrying Case, Detachable Snake Camera-16.5ft) is very easy to use and the additional side lens is a must for this type of instrument that is used in narrow spaces where it is impossible to bend the tip. The 5” LCD screen included with this instrument is excellent and, for me, is easier to use than their other 16.5 ft. endoscope that uses your cell phone for viewing. I owned that one also until my son “borrowed” it and never gave it back. Hence I purchased this product. Unlike my son, older guys like me are not comfortable using our phones in the field for viewing. For one thing, if your job is greasy, dirty, etc. you have to protect your phone while using it for viewing. For another, if you want to use it simultaneously to search for catalog pictures or parts while still using it for viewing, you have to be fluent in your phones operating system (which my son is but I’m not). Consequently, I gladly relinquished my previous endoscope for this one with its own screen. As to their technical support: When I first got the unit, I needed no instruction on how to start using it until I tried to use the side camera. All the buttons are self-explanatory, even the one that turns your view on the LCD 180 degrees. However, I saw no way to access the side camera. I sent an email to Depstech support asking how to do it. I quickly received a return email, with picture (see picture), telling me to press the 180 degree button a little longer than you would to just rotate the view. Problem solved. I probably could have called them and received an even quicker response but I’m hard of hearing and hate to use the phone. So for me, email support is a must and lack of it in a company is a deal breaker. I highly recommend both this endoscope and the company. ... show more

  • In this instance, you get what you pay for
The media could not be loaded. UPDATE: After many months I edited my review from 5 stars to 1 star because the customer service was lacking. They did see that review, refunded me and now I'm changing the review back to 5 stars. Was it a perfectly smooth process like Amazon's customer service? No but that's a high bar and in the end they fixed the issue. The product still works great. I've had the older wifi version (uses an app on your phone to view the footage) for a three years now and decided to upgrade because the video quality was lacking and the app was a pain. I compared three inspection cameras, the Depstech DS450 Single Camera ($57), the Teslong MS450 Dual Camera ($85), and the Depstech DS500 Dual Camera ($125). Keep in mind these are the prices I paid using any available coupons on the Amazon's website. Why I didn't go with the cheapest option: not having the second camera on the side turned out to be a dealbreaker, plus the picture quality was good but not as good as the two more expensive options. Why I didn't go with the middle of the road option: the screen had such poor viewing angles that I couldn't clearly see what I was looking at 50% of the time. That's just another problem to deal with when you have to contend with manipulating a camera just right. Finally, I went with the more expensive option, the Depstech DS500 because it had an 18% larger screen, great viewing angles and one of the best quality pictures of all of them. The video shows the ten dollar bill in ideal lighting conditions and at a great angle but I noticed that in a poorly lit area the more expensive cameras do much better. One thing to note is that I snapped this picture of the dislocated pipe with the DS500 and when I tried to put it on my pc monitor it looked so much worse once enlarged. It really only captures it to be redisplayed as small as you saw on the device's screen so that was a bummer. This review was completed as part of a promotion. ... show more

  • I love this item!!
I absolutely love this product! I have a Rigid inspection camera that I have and have used for the past several years. Comparing the 2 isn't fair at all. One this item the display is much bigger and way better quality. The snake portion of the item is probably 8 times longer and smaller in diameter, which allows me to gain access of areas that were completely impossible prior. Not tp mention the 2nd camera on the tip (90* camera). I can make much tighter bends in the route I take now as well. My other unit doesn't capture images or video either, which makes this a complete game changer. It actually kinda frustrates me that I have been wasting a lot of my time trying too see in areas that this one does effortlessly. I wish I had known about this item a year or two ago. nI laid a dollar down by the items to try and help you get an idea of the actual size based on an everyday item. I have showed and bragged about this to all of my co-workers. I highly suggest picking this model up, especially for the price!! ... show more
