While watching Black Panther on Netflix, the subwoofer picks up a lot of the mid range vocals and gives it a really unbalanced sound profile, almost unwatchable. For example, if dialogue is supposed to come from the right side of the screen and the right side of the soundbar, it will also come from the subwoffer which I had placed on the left side. Why has Denon not already addressed this with a software update? Also, while watching Grey’s Anatomy, the soundbar reproduced too much of the background sound (music etc.) and not enough of the dialogue. Although that was improved with the dialogue enhancer, I was still not impressed. It’s like the soundbar is trying too hard to be a full 5.1 setup but it’s all coming from the same direction at the same volume. For music, the soundbar is incredible. Very detailed sound, even streaming compressed audio from Spotify. Crisp highs and deep lows thanks to the subwoofer. Sad I still have to let this go. I have been testing multiple soundbars and was deciding between this and the Sonos Playbar. I’ve decided to return this because of the terrible TV experience. Even though the Playbar isn’t as sonically capable, I have really enjoyed watching TV with it. It just “does the job.” Plus the Sonos ecosystem is unmatched. Great app and always improving with software updates.     • Delivers what it promises: Alexa enabled, trains TV remote for volume, nice tight sound

This product does everything as promised: trained our TV remote to do the basics of volume control and muting, connects with Alexa to play music from my Amazon account through the sound bar (a huge improvement with the sub woofer) and voice commands to Alexa for the basic volume commands. No remote comes with it and it’s not needed. I can use the app on my phone to change sound profiles when needed. I followed the training instructions to use the TV remote (the app wasn’t required). I linked my Alexa and Heos accounts and then added Alexa skills for the Heos. Very easy to set up. The sound is tight with the sub woofer adding depth. Turning up the volume to 3/4, which was too loud, had no distortion. Amazon is $200 cheaper than any other sellers currently. I love the sound bar. I already had two Marantz receivers with HEOS built in. I wanted to add multi-room sound but wasn't sure about going to Sonos. I gave a pair of the HEOS 7 speakers a try first and love them so I decided to add the sound bar to a TV in my basement bar. With the two receivers, soundbar and to HEOS 7s, I have the whole house covered and it sounds amazing. The sound bar works great with my ARC enabled television so I can just use the TV remote without the IR blaster. I love that I can cast to all speakers from any of the inputs on either receiver or the aux in on either one of the HEOS 7s or soundbar. I would have needed a $350 Connect to do the same thing with Sonos. The HEOS soundbar and sub at $799 is a lot less expensive than the Sonos soundbar and sub combo, too. ... show more

This is the soundbar that I've been waiting (too long) for. I've been looking and even trying to hack something together that allows me to watch tv/movies when I want, and listen to music when I want, without a lot of configuration. This soundbar integrates with Alexa skills via Heos software where I can ask Alexa to play music on "Livingroom" and she plays whatever artist or genre I want over the soundbar or to a group of Heos speakers/receivers throughout the house. Voice commands through Alexa can also adjust the volume of the TV as well if you prefer (nice when you're across the room and the kids are listening to their cartoons too loudly). Sound quality, as expected, is phenomenal and really is the reason why I stick with Denon Heos speakers over Sonos. Yep, even as of 2/1/2020 the Heos app is weak but not maddening as some others' past experiences. My biggest issue with it is that it continues to prompt me through the setup wizard everytime I use the app to browse through music I want to play (I use Amazon Music Unlimited). I LOVE the sound! My kids do too! It shakes the house! With some systems, clarity goes away as the volume goes up; not with this system! The setup was a bit unusual from anything else that I was used to but I was able to figure it out. The downside is that it doesn't come with Bluetooth. A dongle has to be purchased to provide that and plugged into one of the USB ports. I am able to manage though. It also doesn't come with a remote. It is managed by the Heos app. The system and cellphone must be on the same wireless network in order to work ... show more
