This sprouter is so fantastic, and so easy to use! If I could give it more stars, I would! I love alfalfa sprouts with a passion! On sandwiches especially. And they are so nutritious! I used to buy sprouts, but if you use a lot, they are quite expensive and not as fresh tasting as when you sprout your own. And when you run out, you either have to do without or make a trip to the store. Then I learned to sprout my own in glass quart or 2-quart jars. But unless you keep 2 or 3 jars of sprouts going all the time, it just does not make enough. and then you have to wait a few days for the next batch to grow. Plus, you have to keep the bottles lying on their side and you can imagine how my counter looks with 2 or 3 bottles lying on their side all the time. I should mention that unless the seed that was provided with the sprouter is better seed than the seed I have been using in the quart bottles, it seems to me a higher percentage of the seeds sprout in this sprouter, too. I think it is partly because you can't spread the seeds out as well in a quart jar. Also, with a quart jar, you have to rinse the seeds and then drain the water off morning and evening. And I think in the beginning stages of sprouting, this rinsing, no matter how careful you are, breaks the delicate new sprouts off some of the seeds, and then those seeds do not grow again. With jars there is always unsprouted residue which is hard to separate from the sprouts. But it seems every seed sprouts with this sprouter. With this sprouter, each tray sprouts about as much as you can sprout in a quart jar, but uses less seed. I use 2 teaspoons of seed for a quart jar and I use 1 teaspoon for each tray of this sprouter. This sprouter is so much more convenient, attractive, efficient, and space saving, and while sprouting in quart jars is not hard, this is even easier. There is no rinsing morning and evening, you just empty the bottom water catcher tray, rinse it well (wash it every few days), and pour fresh water into the top tray twice a day. The water from the top one dribbles down to all the other trays, and eventually into the bottom one. Each tray of sprouts is at a different stage of growth. I simply use out of the one with the largest sprouts, then when it is empty, I wash it and start a new batch in it so that I always have some sprouts available for whatever I want to use them on. When you clean a tray, be sure the drain holes are clear. Otherwise the water will not drain down properly. This is important because if the seeds get too much water, in other words, if the water does not drain off the seeds, or if a plugged tray does not let the water drain down to the next tray, so that those seeds do not get enough water, they will not grow properly. I always love it when I find a really good product and this is one of those!

I bought this set of stacking trays for growing sprouts in 2018. I've been using it consistently since then. It's important to follow the directions -- the user manual is a link on the product page. Water will not fully drain sometimes from the trays the first couple of days -- this is by design. Not a flaw!! Once the seeds start to sprout, the trays will fully drain. Also be sure to rotate trays, water a couple times a day, always drain the bottom reservoir before watering, and don't overcrowd seeds. Use exactly 2 cups of water when watering -- if you use too much water, it will leak all over. If instructions are followed, this tray system works like a dream. I have never had an issue with mold. Not once. If seeds get stuck in drain holes, a pin or toothpick and some running water takes care of it. Buy quality sprouting seed, and don't let your seed get too old. Soak seeds first, per instructions. Bad germination rates are not the fault of the trays -- old/low quality seed, not following instructions, etc. This tray system will sprout larger seeds and smaller -- I've tried many kinds over the years and never had an issue. Keep the trays clean, water frequently, and follow directions in the guide. I always rinse my sprouts in cold water once they are ready and store them in a ziploc or food container in the fridge with a damp paper towel. They keep up to 5 days. It's perfect -- harvest, refill trays, by the time I use up all the sprouts, I have new ones! I love mine! It is so easy to grow sprouts in this container. Comes with easy to understand directions and a small amount of seed to get started. Very simple to use. Easy to clean. Very very happy with purchase!!!! Worked perfectly for years!!

I bought this set of sprouting trays for my wife. She has been using jars to grow sprouts, but we were interested to see how these trays compare. The trays are lightweight, fit together perfectly, and come with two one ounce packets of seeds. The printed instructions are easy to follow. One of the nice things about these trays is you do not have to soak your seeds. You can if if you want to, but it isn’t necessary. It’s pretty much a self watering system. All you have to do is pour 2 cups of water in the top cover and let it drain. The bottom tray collects the water that you dump when you’re ready to water again in 8-12 hours. The sprouts grow quickly. About the only negatives are there is no cover to block sunlight (we just cover them with a dish towel) and you have to harvest your sprouts and store them in a separate container versus sprout jars that can simply be put in the fridge. These are minor and shouldn’t stop you from buying this set. If you enjoy eating sprouts, this is a great way to grow a variety of them easily. It would also be a fun project for kids.

Excellent sprouting microgreens kit. Super easy to use and works very well. I did not need to put the bag over mine. It seemed cumbersome for watering 3 times per day. The sprouts grew super well. I use Sprouts Salad Mix. My seeds that came with it did not sprout, but they were old because I had them for a long time. They may have been fine if I had used them right away. Once my greens had grown to the top of each container, I put them in the fridge. They kept for many days until they were consumed. Highly recommend! I feel it would even be a great gift for kids since they grow so quickly.

I used to use a similar system many many many years back. Sprouting for two people these are ideal. I am actually going to buy another to add variety considering there are so many type sprout seeds now. Nutrient dense fresh vegetables available for the taking daily once you get going.

I purchased the first around 2017 and still goin strong. Sold product. Do what it says by rotating the trays. Don’t get over anxious as I have done by crowding the seeds. I put them straight into the trays without soaking. Works ok for me.
