  • Easy to use and productive
Size: Deluxe Sprouter + Broccoli & Alfalfa ...
I have grown several different sprouts in this: mung bean, broccoli, chia, radish. The larger seeds do a little better but I had success with all that I tried. It is very easy to use and you can grow a lot. Multiple trays allows the staggering of growths so you never run out.

  • Bought mine in 2018 -- still going strong. Great sprouting tray system!
Size: Deluxe Sprouter + Alfalfa Seeds
I bought this set of stacking trays for growing sprouts in 2018. I've been using it consistently since then. It's important to follow the directions -- the user manual is a link on the product page. Water will not fully drain sometimes from the trays the first couple of days -- this is by design. Not a flaw!! Once the seeds start to sprout, the trays will fully drain. Also be sure to rotate trays, water a couple times a day, always drain the bottom reservoir before watering, and don't overcrowd seeds. Use exactly 2 cups of water when watering -- if you use too much water, it will leak all over. If instructions are followed, this tray system works like a dream. I have never had an issue with mold. Not once. If seeds get stuck in drain holes, a pin or toothpick and some running water takes care of it. Buy quality sprouting seed, and don't let your seed get too old. Soak seeds first, per instructions. Bad germination rates are not the fault of the trays -- old/low quality seed, not following instructions, etc. This tray system will sprout larger seeds and smaller -- I've tried many kinds over the years and never had an issue. Keep the trays clean, water frequently, and follow directions in the guide. I always rinse my sprouts in cold water once they are ready and store them in a ziploc or food container in the fridge with a damp paper towel. They keep up to 5 days. It's perfect -- harvest, refill trays, by the time I use up all the sprouts, I have new ones! I love mine! It is so easy to grow sprouts in this container. Comes with easy to understand directions and a small amount of seed to get started. Very simple to use. Easy to clean. Very very happy with purchase!!!! Worked perfectly for years!! ... show more

  • Compact Great Microgreen Growing Kit
Size: Deluxe Sprouter + Broccoli & Alfalfa ...
Excellent sprouting microgreens kit. Super easy to use and works very well. I did not need to put the bag over mine. It seemed cumbersome for watering 3 times per day. The sprouts grew super well. I use Sprouts Salad Mix. My seeds that came with it did not sprout, but they were old because I had them for a long time. They may have been fine if I had used them right away. Once my greens had grown to the top of each container, I put them in the fridge. They kept for many days until they were consumed. Highly recommend! I feel it would even be a great gift for kids since they grow so quickly. ... show more

  • Remarkably fine product. Even bought again. Fabulous sprouts.
Size: Deluxe Sprouter + Alfalfa Seeds
This review is on the model 1200 sprouter, recently purchased, and does not concern previous models. I tend to review items only when they are particularly good or when they should be avoided and this sprouter is definitely one of the best. My previous experience has been with jar-type sprouters, which we never seem to be able to keep going for long, primarily due to issues with rinsing, drainage and yield. We have now had a couple crops of bean-type sprouts and the results have been very, very good. Based on the images supplied in the instructions we used about 1/4 cup of mung beans or 3/8 cup of (somewhat larger) adzuki beans, soaked for about 5-6 hours and then distributed amongst the four growing compartments. I have to admit that the quantities quoted would represent a slightly liberal interpretation of the sample images as we felt they appeared to be a bit too sparse based on our previous sprout experience. We rinsed the sprouts twice a day with about 1-1/2 cups (350 ml) of cool (not cold) tap water, which is ultimately caught in the bottom container. The majority of the water seems to drain through the four sprouting compartments in a few minutes, providing a rinse. At first, we were concerned about rot due to the amount of water that appeared to be retained in the sprouting compartments, but the results proved our fears groundless. As the seeds began to sprout, we continued to feel that we hadn't used enough of them, but in the last twelve hour period on the fifth day we were rewarded with a lush, full crop of sprouts. They had reached our favorite stage in which the tips of the first green leaves are emerging. They were so delicious I barely had time to measure the yield before they were consumed by family members. Four circular growing trays filled half of a gallon freezer bag or about 2 liters. These are the best results I have ever obtained from any sprouting method, and it was also the easiest. We are sorry we ever went back to store-bought sprouts. In addressing the negative reviews, I have to say that we have not tried it with smaller seeds such as alfalfa but I will update the review once we do. For now, we are busy growing yummy bean sprouts and have ordered a second Deluxe Seed Sprouter. Other than that, if you experience poor results, you need to be looking somewhere else for the problem; it's not with this product. If I thought I had bad soak or rinse water, at most I might treat it by boiling. As a biologist, the notion of "sterilizing" your seeds with chemicals or even vinegar in order to "prevent rot" leaves me cold. We sprout in the kitchen which is a constant 70F without nighttime dips. It's placed against the wall near a window so it has light, but is not in direct sunlight at any time. Can't even begin to address the review(s) that talk about "soil". Finally, we bought it for less than $20 and felt the price was more than fair for what we received. ... show more
