My cousin brought one of these to the park for the kids to play and lay on, and I immediately knew I needed one too. We used to use a normal blanket but those get damp from the moisture of the ground even when it's not "wet" per say. This isn't exactly a soft material but it doesn't feel like you're laying on a tarp either. Two adults could definitely lay on it, or 3 if you're fine being close. I'd say at least 4 people could probably sit on it. My biggest problem with it is that it's hard to fold back up properly. ... show more

This picnic blanket is pretty decent. I understand its waterproof, therefore the material has to be more on the harder side...however it makes the blanket not the most comfortable to lay on. I tend to lay this out and then put a blanket on top of it. However, the size is really great for groups of people.. just wish it was slightly softer! ... show more

As you can see from my images, both the front and backside of this picnic blanket deflect water. Though I think I should disclose this is not really a comfy "blanket" so to say. It's more like a fabric tarp to protect you from the ground. The backside is lined with soft plastic and the front is a canvas-like woven acrylic material. If you do plan on lounging outside on top of this, I'd recommend bringing some pillows or a throw blanket to keep you cushioned and cozy. Pros: -pretty big -folds up to about the size of an iPad/small purse. very portable -silent, not noisy or crunchy -water resistant Cons: -Super thin, not soft, no padding. -No clear washing instructions With that said, this is a great cheap option if you don't want to break the bank for a one-time event, or maybe you need something that's slightly more attractive to use as a floor mat temporarily... BUT I don't think I'd recommend this for a cozy picnic unless you're really on a tight budget. Personally, I'm using this to keep a mattress from touching a rough floor directly! Good price point — Folds up so you can carry it or hang it! The blanket came with a plastic- like smell on the underside. I am hoping as the blanket is used outdoors more, this will dissipate.

This is a great picnic blanket! It’s waterproof and extra large making it perfect for all the family. We recently took it to the beach with us and it was so easy to shake and get all the sand off. Highly recommend.
