The few things I was looking for was a battery than can be replaced and affordable fun. I’m planning on throwing this Rc in rivers and streams while hiking with my kids so the speed is perfect for that and the boat is appealing to them.

I take this to a local pond that is really pretty large with lots of logs and other obstacles to maneuver around. I have tested the range and I can confirm I can let it go far enough where I can barely see it anymore to be able to confidently control it. I have also tried a battery length test and every time I am ready to leave before the first battery is even drained. It isn't very fast so it is more for beginners like myself, but I am having a blast with it as an adult and you will too. ... show more

Due to the time of the year, we haven't yet tried this toy on the water. When weather allows it, possibly I'll amend something in this review. The basic impression of this cutter is very good. It looks nice and feels sturdy. The controller sits in the hand perfectly, easily connect to the cutter and controls it smoothly and reliably. This RC Boat is a nice RC for kids or beginner adults. It's easy to use and control. It lets you know that the battery is low and let's you limp the boat back to shore. Nice colors and finish on the boat. I can see why the ages are 8 and up, the propellers are small but there are replacement props included in the package! Nice box, would make a really pretty gift. Comprehensive instruction manual and warning pamphlet about battery safety. Never plug these rechargeable batteries in unattended due to rare but serious risk of fires. The controller is very well designed to fit your hand. The throttle is a nicely placed trigger and the wheel for turning is located on the right side of the control, good for right handed kids but not so much for my left handed nephew. But kids adjust and being able to use both hands for tasks is always a good thing. I will update this when we get it going in the water. So far 5 out of 5 stars for excellent quality. ... show more
