  • Great control, fun, and looks - this plane is a winner for kids or adults!
Style: Thunderbirds
This is my third DeeRC plane, and it's by far my favorite. As an adult rookie RC pilot, I still crash into things periodically, and I find the foam planes to be incredibly durable. This plane has a very soft silicone nose especially to absorb unexpected frontal impacts. I have landed this in trees, in the water, smoothly, and roughly - it just keeps coming back for more, and never shows sign of damage. This plane is slightly larger than my prior planes, and the larger body has a bigger battery compartment, which makes it easier to get the battery in and out. It's a subtle thing, but tighter battery compartments can sometimes be annoying to load up. The wing lights look very cool at dusk, and actually help you to better see the plane's orientation. I noticed on this one that DeeRC has refined their design a bit with both the wires and the lights slightly recessed in the wing. It's a very clean look. I find the hand launch to be my preference over using the landing gear, and since (excepting crashes!) I always touch down in soft grass. I chose not to install the landing gear. That has made for less things to stick when I end up in a tree, and the gear doesn't snag on the grass. The gyro is good and bad; It sometimes creates some unexpected motions or overcompensates. This isn't bad when you have plenty of clearance, but if you time a maneuver with specific expectations and the gyro kicks in and does something different it may cause a momentary stress on the pilot. The good side is that does a great job of stabilizing the plane. You definitely want to fly this only when there's no wind because the gyro isn't enough to compensate if the breeze kicks up; It's a very light plane. This plane has excellent working elevators on the tail. The gyro will stop you from doing a roll unless you press the stunt button, but I love how much more control it gives on landings. I can drop the throttle way back, raise the elevators, and the plane drops smoothly until its close enough to just cut the throttle and set down. I think it's also a great trainer for more advanced planes without a gyro, as you can accelerate your turns with it. Battery life is excellent. I get around 20 minutes per battery, which is plenty of concentration time for me. They charge fully in 45-60 minutes using the included USB charger. This is a great looking, durable, and incredibly fun to fly plane that I believe provides an experience far beyond its price. If you're interested in RC planes, and as a beginner want something to learn on without worrying about damage, don't hesitate. ... show more

  • Simple And Flies
Style: Thunderbirds
This is a good plane to get use to flying RCs for beginners. The controller feels kind of like an Xbox controller and is easy to hold in the hands. Very light plane with motors that are more than capable of pulling it. The plane is very responsive to inputs which consist of flaps and throttle. The rear stabilizer is fixed in place once installed. It is not controlled by the transmitter. It appears turns are done via the flaps and alternating the power between the two motors. The stabilizer function does work but flying on windy days is not ideal since it is very light overall. Had some wind gust that had us spiral a couple times but was able to recover. We have been landing in grass and have not damage the plane. Even had one nose dive but the bumper on front was more than enough to keep it from breaking. It just bounced once and came to a stop. The battery compartment is nice. Just open, plug in battery and close with confidence the battery will not fall out. No screws or complicated process, just plug and play If your looking for a simple plane to learn on, adult or kid, this is one that wont break the bank. ... show more

  • needs improvement
Style: Thunderbirds
The media could not be loaded. I own over 40 airplanes and have 10 years of flying experience. The build quality is solid. You'll need to glue the rear fin in place, so once assembled, it can't be stored in the box and used as a carry case like other small planes. However, they do include the glue needed. The under-glow lights are a nice feature. The landing gear installs easily. However, as an adult, I find the controller too small. The rubber nose cone can collapse, which is good for crashes. Unfortunately, the flight controls perform poorly, with noticeable input delay when turning. The gyro reacts slowly even after calibration. Takeoff takes a long time, and the plane is underpowered. It lacks guards around the propellers, and it’s not an EDF, which many are now switching to. I wouldn’t recommend it. ... show more

  • Fun Beginner RC Plane with Smooth Flight and Great Value
Style: Thunderbirds
I ordered this RC plane for my son and it’s been a fantastic introduction to flying. The setup was easy right out of the box—everything was ready to go, and having two batteries included meant more time in the air and less waiting around. The 3-channel control and 6-axis gyro make it super stable, even in light wind, so it’s forgiving for beginners but still a lot of fun for more experienced users. It handled gentle turns and takeoffs smoothly, and the range on the remote was better than expected. We’ve had a few hard landings, but the plane has held up well thanks to the lightweight yet durable construction. It’s not built for acrobatics, but that’s fine—it’s more about learning the ropes and enjoying easy, controlled flight. Battery life is decent for its size, and recharging doesn’t take too long. Overall, it’s a solid starter RC plane that doesn’t feel cheap and has provided a ton of enjoyment already. Great value for anyone looking to get into flying without investing in a high-end model right away. ... show more

  • Fun and Easy to Fly
Style: Thunderbirds
This is a great little RC plane—lightweight, easy to use, and surprisingly durable. I was initially worried since it's mostly styrofoam, but it’s held up well after multiple flights, including landings on pavement. It comes with two batteries for the plane, a simple controller, and spare propellers. You can launch it from the ground or by hand, and both methods worked well. The magnetic battery cover is a nice touch, and assembly was straightforward. It flies smoothly and responds well to the controls, making it a lot of fun to take out with the family. Just note that the controller requires 3 AAA batteries, which aren’t included. Great value and lots of fun packed into a compact setup. ... show more
