If you're looking for an inexpensive, beginner-friendly drone that holds up well to daily use (and crashes), the DEERC D10 Drone would be a good choice. Take note of the limited documentation and support for the accompanying app, but given the value for money, this drone comes recommended, especially for beginners or children.

    • Affordable and Easy to fly!
The media could not be loaded. This is my first drone that is not a small and obvious toy and it's also my first camera drone. My kids all have drones and I personally wanted something a little bigger that I could fly outdoors, but I don't have the experience yet for a more expensive drone, so this one seemed to be a nice step up from the small ones. One of the things that I like about this drone right out of the box is that it comes with a case to protect and store it. This is really nice feature to have, especially at this price. The second thing I noticed is that you have two batteries and two charging cables. That's also nice because it allows you to charge both at the same time. One thing about the charging cables that I did find confusing is that the instructions mention charging until the light comes on - well it's not obvious that there's a light in the charger. It's black and when you plug it in no light comes on. The light does come on when the battery is fully charged, but before that there's nothing to indicate that you are actually charging. Battery time was about 15 minutes on each battery which, when you have two fully charged batteries, is enough to really play with this without having your time cut too short by a dead battery. The initial setup is very straightforward and easy to follow. I was able to connect the drone to my phone with the app and see the video on my phone screen while flying - however, during the day it's not easy to see my phone, and I also found it distracting to look at the phone while trying to fly the drone with the remote. It's also possible to fly the drone solely with the app, but I only played with this feature once before writing this review. I'm more comfortable using the remote right now while I get more familiar with it. I did have trouble recording the video as well - using the record button on the remote didn't actually save the video the first time I tried it. Later I pushed record on the app and that did save, but the video was cut short for some reason. This is a feature I need to explore more. I see other reviewers have good videos, so I'm going to say that I need to spend more time learning this feature. The drone is very lightweight and subject to the wind - I wouldn't try to fly if there is much wind. Our first time out it did blow off course once and we had to go after it, but it survived just fine. However, my oldest son and I did have a lot of fun learning to fly it together. We went to an open field the first time so that we wouldn't have to worry about trees or anything else while we got a feel for it. I would recommend this Drone for older kids and adults wanting to learn more about drones without having to make a big investment. [updated review after trying together with my kids ages 11 and 8] Overall, very nice drone for the money. Nice features, particularly the 360 flip, and FPV. Easy enough for children to fly, able to fly in light wind. Took the drone to a local park with my son, age 11, and daughter, age 8. After a few simple instructions they were both able to get it flying under control, even in the 4 mph breeze at the park. This is an excellent choice for flying together with pre-teens (under adult supervision). For a lightweight model, it was surprising how well it was able to hold its own against a light breeze. For the fastest way to get started, download the APP and then watch the short video on the APP (click “learn” button on the lower left side). This runs you through the basic features. Power on the transmitter and the drone. Pairing and calibration are done with two simply movements of the joystick and then hit the one key takeoff and you are up and flying. For indoor use and especially if using around kids or pets, definitely recommend attaching the propeller guards. Although it is not mentioned in the manual, be sure to attached the four included screws to secure the guards to the drone, otherwise, the propeller guards will fall off when touch the ground or an object. We got 11-12 min of continuous flight time on each battery. Convenient that it comes with two batteries. The neatest feature of the drone is the 360 degree flip. Really cool and my kids really turned some heads at the park. Click the flip button on the transmitter and then select either right to left or up and down and the drone does a quick flip and then right back to its pre-flip position while maintaining its altitude. The drone is quite compact and portable, everything fits nicely in the case, including the extra battery, instruction manual and spare parts. On the transmitter, all of the buttons are pretty self-explanatory except for one. I have no idea what the “NULL” button does and cannot find any mention of it in the instruction guide. Unfortunately, there were no instructions for the APP in the instruction manual, so need some time to experiment a bit to use the other features such as hand gesture, voice control and set path flying. Would be nice to have some of these features on the transmitter as it is difficult to see the controls on my smartphone in the bright sun and glare. Overall, very responsive drone with nice features. If this is your first drone, recommend trying it a few times with no wind to get the hang of it. Otherwise, if you start off with some wind, once it takes off, it will be carried in the direction of the wind unless you compensate with the joystick, steering into the wind. As there is no GPS, there is no return to home button. The photo and video functions both worked well, although at 720p it is not the highest resolution. I did notice that the automatic white balance of the photos and videos can vary in the same lighting conditions (refer to attached two photos taken just seconds apart). Not much of an issue as this drone is more for fun then portrait photos or cinematic videos. Overall, a great beginner drone suitable for adults and children with adult supervision. ... show more
