Measure from the top of your rod to the floor. 84-inch blackout curtains usually land above the floor; longer options suit higher mounts or a light puddle. Hang rods 4–6 in above the frame to reduce light gaps. Are these lined or see‑through? They’re opaque blackout curtains with a woven layer and no separate lining, so they drape softly without extra bulk and protect privacy day or night as room darkening curtains. Are they good for nursery naps or media rooms? Yes—choose a darker shade and ample width to block light around the edges. These nursery blackout curtains and room darkening curtains add privacy and reduce glare for naps or movie time. Will the color fade or fabric shrink after washing? The polyester fabric is colorfast and resists shrinkage when cared for properly. Wash cold on gentle and dry low or line dry. Skip bleach and high heat to maintain the drape and length of these blackout curtains as bedroom curtains. How can I stop light leaking at the sides or top? Order blackout curtains 20–30% wider than the window and mount the rod higher or use a wraparound style to close gaps. A small valance or a shade above also helps. A tighter fit boosts energy saving curtains performance.
