These are smaller than anticipated but true to the measurements given. I'm not discouraged. I'm determined to make these the ultimate 1:1 uncle Ben's instant pack culture to cocoa coir, vermiculite, gypsum substrate should fill the bottom perfectly and make for a stable ratio of spawn to bulk. I have some concerns for the seal on lid to base. Doesn't snap on like you'd want. So I'll likely set a weight of some sort on top to keep a vapor seal between lid and base. I'll try to remember to update later if I use for this method and how it goes. If I dont use for mushroom grow I'll definitely utilize as a propagation chamber for spring seedlings! So it was a great purchase I just need to apply! Unfortunately my Uncle Ben Tech is not performing well but I had some leftover substrate when making a couple of bigger mono tubs and I filled these little containers with substrate and just let them go on their own and they performed ... show more

These mini monotubs would be perfect for small batches. I haven't grown anything in them yet but that shouldn't be a problem. They are a little thin but should hold up as long as there are no accidents. I think they are overpriced, but I bought them for their size that should have fit four in my magicshroom humidity-controlled box. Unfortunately, the boxes are 1" longer than advertised and only two will fit. I'll make do and will find another use for them. If you're getting this set for a one-time use with kids, it works fine. But the material is very thin, and the lid doesn't snap closed. It's quite small and not worth the price that it costs. I don't think this product makes sense as a mushroom grow kit. If you are a beginner looking to start growing mushrooms you would want a kit that includes cultivated media to grow your mushrooms from. And if you're more experienced these are awfully small for growing mushrooms. They could be useful when you want a mini greenhouse with adjustable vents on top for some other purpose, like starting seeds. There's two mini greenhouses included each composed of a base and lid with a ventilation cover that you snap into place on the lid. The bases do not have drainage holes and would be good when you want something to sit in water. The outside dimensions are about 7-1/4" by 5-3/4". The inside measurements are about 3/4" shorter in both directions. The lids are tall, they are taller than the bases are. The base is about 2-1/2" tall while the lids are about 4-1/4" tall. The lids simply sit on top of the bases. The ventilation covers snap easily into the lids and you can then control how much ventilation you have by rotating the cover to align the holes in the lid with the holes in the cover. The spray bottle puts out a good fine mist. As a product I think these are just small greenhouses that you can use as you like. ... show more
