DecoArt is the best! This varnish, the Gloss, so does the High gloss varnish, works great! It's easy to use, but try not to get it wet. It clouds up, but will dry clear again. It's not a water repellent or water resilient varnish. When the varnish dries, it has a beautiful shine! I'm going to buy this when I need it! ... show more

DuraClear is THE best. I have been playing around with polymer clay projects and experimenting with all types of finishing products. After a year of tacky this's and non-drying thats, I just about gave up hope. I secured a polishing machine and figured my varnishing days were put to rest. Then I tried DuraClear. I am STILL amazed; addicted really. Not only does it dry in record time (dry to touch within half hour) the shine it produces is brilliant. With one coat (DuraClear Gloss Varnish)you get a decent hint of shine. With a few applications, it looks like glass. There aren't lumpy and uneven spots to fret over. I am what I deem as an absolute klutz in the polishing department. For me to produce objects without the horrors of my misdirected sense of uniformity is a joy. I have an embarassing assortment of partially used spray cans, jars and quarts. However, my DuraClear nearly ran out after merely a month of casual use. The only issue has to do with my cleaning up habits. Be sure to soak your brush in between long waits, projects. The blessing of a faster drying time obviously applies to your work tools as well. ... show more

Origami objects that you want to preserve will be well protected finishing them with DuraClear. I personally have used many different projects in coating my origami jewelry, but I like DuraClear the best. Low odor, quick drying, easy application. If you want to preserve animal origami, try the matte DuraClear, if you don't want a shiny elephant! ;) Great item, I'm so glad Amazon carries it! The reason for the 4 vs 5 stars is that I have worn my earrings in the rain and they went a bit soggy. I could still wear them, but the gloss definitely lost it's shine. There are, however, a couple possibly mitigating factors: 1) It was more of a downpour than a nice gentle rain. 2) I could have coupled the DuraClear with another finish, but I cannot remember. I know I used the DuraClear, but I am not sure it was the final layer, so it might have been the "other" finish. Overall, I LOVE this product!!! ... show more

What I liked about this is that it's a one step process and goes on easily. Dries clear and shiny. One has to be careful with some paints as it will smear. I would suggest testing a small area if you have any questions of your paint smearing. Then just don't use with that type of paint. I love this stuff! ... show more

Great sealant for painted rocks, wood crafts, or any craft you want to be durable outside. I made “bird-scares” to protect our berry bushes. They were cheap wood circles and I painted them with Apple Barrel indoor-outdoor gloss acrylic paint. I sealed them with this DecoArt varnish, and they lasted from April to December of this year. I wish I had a before pic, but I do have the pic of one after I brought it in from the gardens. The colors are still good, and the thin wood is still intact. We had temps from 0-98 degrees F, weeks of bright sun, weeks of cold rain & snow/freezing rain. They held up better than I ever thought possible. Also, this varnish did not smear colors when I applied it, unlike ModgePodge (sp?). I recommend smooth surfaces for this since it is a bit thin and might take several layers for full protection. ... show more
