  • It's not bad, if you understand what you're getting. [Returned due to fault]
I purchased this to use as a new primary monitor on my sim rig for gaming. It's... Alright. The size is great, it's much bigger than a traditional monitor, a bit smaller than most higher res TVs you'll find, it sort of sits in the middle ground of the two. For a size comparison, it's just a bit wider than a 34" ultrawide, and almost twice as tall. The image isn't *too* bad (more on this later), colors are ok once you adjust the screen. The size makes games truly immersive. My screen sits less than an arm's length from my seated position, so larger screens like this just fill your field of view and you really get brought into the game. It's *fast*. I didn't think 165hz would be that big of a difference from the 144hz I'm used to, but this thing just feels much more snappy in everything. This being a VA panel, it does have some of the inherent ghosting that comes with that. The "VA smear" as it's known. It isn't as bad as my other VA monitor, but definitely still present. Like all VA screens, it's better or worse depending on what is being displayed. Some games show it worse than others, scenes with higher contrast or brighter colors will show it more. This is just a VA thing, and companies trying to clock them higher than the tech can really handle and still retain a clear image. The major downside of this monitor comes down to what it is. 1440p at this size just isn't very good. That's a lot of screen, and relatively few pixels to fill it, so you end up with a pretty low pixel density. Meaning, you don't get the clearest image in the world. The pixel pitch is fine, there isn't any screen door effect going on, it's just not a clean image. At a normal 100% scale, text is difficult to read due to becoming pixelated. When I first hooked this guy up and powered it on, I was disappointed. I knew what I was getting into, I knew that this resolution at this size would have some image quality issues, I just didn't think it would be quite so bad. Coming from 1440p 34" ultrawide, this was a huge downgrade in quality. A screen this size really should be 4k. I stuck with it though, and after a few days, it didn't seem so bad anymore. My eyes and brain had adjusted to it, and it was alright. Text still looked pretty bad, but overall I was mostly happy with the monitor. I was still sort of on the fence, but it suited my particular needs. And then it started having issues. After only a few days of use, it started flickering random horizontal bars across the screen. They happened so fast that at first I thought I was imagining it, but after paying very close attention, it was definitely there. It was always at a different location, and different size, a white bar that flickered for probably one frame. I did the usual, checked my GPU, cables, tried new cables, tried different ports. The result was always the same, the monitor was flickering. Luckily I kept the box. ... show more

  • Great once you tweak a good bit.
Out the box the picture settings are washed out. Not shown in pics are the red 46 green 48 blue 52 after you set to user. Still at these settings you may not want to edit video/photo unless you calibrate it more accurately. I’m using it with both a MacBook Pro and a gaming pc. If you’re worried about it being too large and the pixel density not being enough. Well it’s right there on the edge but to my eyes it’s still really sharp unless I’m decreasing the viewing distance to less than an arms length. It’s very difficult to find a larger than 32 inch 1440p screen. I had a 40 inch that was 3400x1440 but the increased number of pixels really dropped my fps. It was a better looking screen but the letter boxes when watching 16x9 videos really sucked. This monitor is a very good value if you’re looking for a very large 1440p screen and are willing to tweak it for a bit. ... show more

  • It's meh
This is actually my second one the first I got came damaged in shipping like really badly damaged. So now that I've had this replacement monitor for a few months now I can write pretty comprehensive review on this. TLDR probably skip this monitor. No lets get into the details while yes this monitor claims to have 120+hz you only get that with display port not HDMI and you'll usually top out at around 110 . As well the HDMI picture quality is absolute dog shit, the display port picture quality is ok but I also use this monitor for work and the brightness is less than to be desired. I was hoping to upgrade from my 32" curved to a 40" and do kinda miss the curved monitor. I use this monitor with 2 different computers for work and gaming and while the size is awesome for the price the picture quality is not great compared to my 32" LG I had. Some other cons - there is no up and down adjustment only a little but of tilt. - Can't seem to find where to turn off the annoying red led on the back - when ever I roll around in my chair the monitor randomly turns off for a split second not the end of the world but still annoying. - UI for the settings is pretty garbage not very intuitive. Probably won't keep this for much longer and will look for something better on a blackfriday deal. ... show more

  • DO NOT BUY - But seller has great service
This monitor only lasted 8 days. Honestly, It has sat on my living couch more than on my desk. It failed in 8 days. When I contacted the seller, and after a few messages, the seller agreed to offer me a refund without having to return it. I'm happy now eventho I have this YUGE turd to throw away.

  • I did not think a quality monitor, this large, was even possible for under $3.000!
I do not use this for gaming, just desktop publishing. While gaming monitors usually do not provide the best text quality, this is the best I have ever seen in a gaming monitor. Actually, it's just as good as my professional monitors for work. And, the price being under $500 is amazing! My only other choices were Samsung and LG for around $3000!! I did have some adjusting to make it near perfect for my needs but I do not mind that. (For business, do not set the Sharpness to 100%. I have mine at 80-90%.) My wishes? A matte finish to block glare (yes, I know why it is glossy for the gamers) but I just moved the desk lamp that was behind me and voila. My only other wish is just a tad more screen curvature but I am being spoiled here! At the present it is at 1000; I would like to see 2000. (There is no light fall-off on the ends.) I was using three Samsung 24" monitors in the vertical position but I got tired of the visual breaks from the borders of each monitor. I am very picky so I have to say that I am THRILLED! I needed a really large, curved, high quality screen and I got that and I got it at a price that I did not think was even possible. Big kudos to Decogear! ... show more
