  • Just buy it, worth every penny
Works great. the best tool to have while doing any type of decking.

  • Could not have done teak deck without it.
I like many things about this hardwood wrench. It is able to move hard teak into the perfect position. You must buy spacers to make sure you leave space. The wrench is easy to use. There are spots where you cannot use it such as at the end of the deck or on stairs. However, while it is pricey, I was able to do the deck surface in three days. The IPE clips need to be in a position in the groove before you apply the pressure. It is slightly counterintuitive in that you have to think every time you position it. It was definitely a time and aggravation saver. So yes, go for it. ... show more

  • A great too, but you really do need two of them.
I built a deck with garapa 5 quarter x 3.5" deck boards. It came out nice. For spacers, instead of the cheap plastic ones, I made four out of steel. I then started out with one of these wrenches, but soon discovered that you really need two to get a nice even pressure on the spacers. The result is that over a 36 foot long run, the lines in the deck look perfectly straight, and measure out to within about 1/8" of variance from one end to the other, and that was all in the variations in the wood. The wrenches are very well made and easy to use. ... show more

  • Worth every penny
As a professional deck and fence builder, this is a must have. It makes it a doable job for one person, you can clamp it in place while you put your clips in place, eliminating the need for another hand Absolutely worth the money, I should have bought one sooner! I kept it in the cart for a year! If you build decks you should buy this. ... show more

  • Professioal tool worth the heavy price
Seems overpriced at first glance, I thought the same thing! This is a pro tool extremely well made and strong. There is no way I could have installed Trex boards w/o it. I am a professional contractor and have used the Stanley deck board and also the board bender tools. Their problem is they wont hold on there own so if you have a helper they work ok this one holds itself in place. Bolts do come loose during use so if you buy it make sure you keep checking to make sure they are tight during use. That is the reason for the 4 not 5 star rating. Id buy again ... show more

  • Expensive but well made
Wrench worked well for installing Brazilian Garapa hard wood deck boards onto our balcony. However, because we had pre-painted the joists in which the deck boards were fastened to, I needed to wrap rubber over the wrenche’s teeth to prevent chewing up the joist wood.

  • Fantastic, and imo, a necessary tool for all deck builders!
Wow this thing is expensive! But the second you handle it, you realize why. It's supremely engineered, and of the highest quality you could ever ask for. I saw it before I started building my timbertech deck and passed it by... then when I began installing, I immediately bought it and can't understand how anyone could build a deck without it! Totally saved me and yes, timbertech is a pain to install, but this makes it much easier to do. ... show more

  • Expensive. Has problems in use.
Works well in one handle configuration only. Although the handle is reversible, the rest of the device is assymmetric and works well in only one handle configuration (pulling, not pushing). The tool cannot be used close to a house (e.g., within 18-24 inches) because the handle in its optimal position cannot be extended as far as is required to bend a board. The wrench is extremely well made and very solid. The wrench has a distinct tendency to come out of the horizontal plane when the handle is being pulled towards you. Often requires the use of additional "filler" boards to get the tension of the device set properly when straightening boards. I had better luck with the much less expensive Bowrench. ... show more
