  • 10/10 from a caffeine fiend
Flavor Name: Dark Roast Size: 16 Ounce (Pack of 1)
I got this on a whim, cause I’ve heard of it, and wanted to see what it was like for myself. Turns out it’s some of the best coffee I’ve ever had. I’m a college student, and have been drinking coffee for years. This coffee is super solid. Not super bitter, it’s smooth, it’s a nice drink to have in the morning while on the porch, in your rocking chair, or in a thermos, prepping for a long day of meetings and brain rot. I was most surprised by the taste. When you hear “World’s Strongest Coffee”, you’d think it’d be more bitter than a selfish ex, right (though that may be just me, lol.)? But nope! I drink it from the classic drip coffee maker, and it drinks well. The grounds have a lovely floral/fruity scent, that doesn’t hit you in the face like a Bath and Bodywork’s candle but is enough to give you a wave. The drink itself is smooth, and has the slightest scent of fruit (which makes sense), and doesn’t smell like burnt or char, and doesn’t have a hint of acid, which I find quite refreshing. It tastes good (has the smallest hint of a coffee flavor, but also in tandem with some more classic fruity flavor, but not strong. It ain’t water, but it ain’t concentrate, if that makes sense.), not too strong, and doesn’t overwhelm you, even as a darker roast. Overall, I’d recommend it for someone who’s used to drinking coffee, and wants a higher quality brew, with a cool looking bag. I say someone who’s used to drinking coffee because here’s the important caveat: This coffee has a high caffeine content. I know, easy to say as a buying point, doesn’t always mean it’s legit. But let me tell you: this coffee is the real deal, and has enough caffeine to keep you going in sips, rather than needing more than one mug in one sitting to stay alive during the morning before your next cuppa. It’s a kick in the pants, gotta admit, and as a 5 foot 160 pound man, it’s enough to keep me up and running. So not for those who are new to caffeine, or are more sensitive to caffeine. When they say “start with one cup in isolate”, they were NOT kidding. One 8 ounce polka dot cup was enough to get me through some yard work, two art commissions, a morning walk, and some calisthenics. It’s potent, a bang for a good tasting buck. And if you wanna try drinking it regularly, I’d recommend diluting it a bit with some hot water as you get used to it, so you can get used to it (or hell, be a rebel and make Death Wish cold brew concentrate to drink in a diluted afternoon cold cup). Overall, I’d recommend it, 10/10. Folgers ain’t got nothing on this, and Death Wish being fair trade is a bonus. :) ... show more

  • A Taste-Test Comparison :-)
Flavor Name: Dark Roast Size: 16 Ounce (Pack of 2)
I love strong, dark-roast coffee. My go-tos are (1) Green Mountain's Dark Magic, (2) Peet's Major Dickason's Blend, and (3) San Francisco Bay's Extra Dark Italian. So today, I compared Death Wish Dark Roast (DW) vs. Green Mountain Dark Magic (GM). Here are the results: Appearance & Texture - both were already in ground form, so I could not compare the beans in terms of oily vs. dry, etc. The gounds, as seen in the photo, appeared to be the same in color. Texture of the grounds were also comparable. Smell - from the bag, GM was slightly more aromatic than DW, but they both gave off the delicious smell of fresh coffee. After brewing, again GM's smell was slightly stronger. Taste - As with the slightly stronger smell from GM, GM had a slightly (and when I say slightly, I mean really tiny) bit of an extra bite after you swallow. On the other hand, I found DW to be smoother when swallowed. Brewing - I brewed both with 8oz cold, filtered water, and no sugar. In summary, both DW and GM taste pretty much the same! You can't go wrong with either. They both have a strong, bold, rich flavor, with a wonderful smell. Therefore, I will now add Death Wish Dark Roast coffee to my list of go-tos. In my next analysis, I will compare DW espresso to my go-to Gavina espresso! NOTE: I did not include Peet's to the comparison analysis because Peet's and GM are also very similar, so I didn't bother. It was only added to the pictures for visual purposes. Hope this analysis helps! ... show more

  • It's all that matters in the morning
Flavor Name: Dark Roast Size: 16 Ounce (Pack of 1)
I like coffee from upscale coffee shops. I don't like paying their prices. To find the best of both worlds, I decided to start making coffee at home using my French press. Death Wish coffee is the absolute best for a French press. Rich aroma, delicious taste. Just the right strength. Now, before you come at me and say the grind is too fine for a press, I have to tell you I don't care. It is exactly what I'm looking for in a cup of deep, dark liquid that transports me to nirvana. Ok, not really. But I truly like it, and the price is right. And that's all that matters, isn't it? ... show more
