Description

A novelization of the hit movie starring Robin Williams as Professor Keating, an inspiring, uplifting teacher who changes his students' lives. Todd Anderson and his friends at Welton Academy can hardly believe how different life is since their new English professor, the flamboyant John Keating, has challenged them to "make your lives extraordinary! Inspired by Keating, the boys resurrect the Dead Poets Society--a secret club where, free from the constraints and expectations of school and parents, they let their passions run wild. As Keating turns the boys on to the great words of Byron, Shelley, and Keats, they discover not only the beauty of language, but the importance of making each moment count. But the Dead Poets pledges soon realize that their newfound freedom can have tragic consequences. Can the club and the individuality it inspires survive the pressure from authorities determined to destroy their dreams? Read more

One of my favorite books. I would advice everyone to purchase this. It makes you view perspectives differently. I was only a teen when my brother used to tell me about this and years later (Now in College) I see what the hype was all about !

  • Thought-Provoking and Inspiring
Format: Mass Market Paperback
Dead Poets Society really stuck with me. It’s a beautifully written story about finding your voice, thinking for yourself, and chasing what truly matters. The way it captures the struggles and excitement of figuring out who you are felt so real and relatable. I kept thinking about it long after I finished—about courage, creativity, and what it means to really live fully. This book is uplifting, emotional, and one that makes you reflect on your own choices and passions. Definitely one I’d recommend to anyone who loves stories that stay with you. ... show more

I thought this book was very fun to read -- I finished it in less than a day! It is nearly identical to the movie, with a few extra scenes added in and very minor changes. It isn't a challenging read, with pretty simple language. Compared to the movie, the book is not at all as rich in emotion. Like I said, it's very, very simple. Definitely watch the movie first if you have not already, and then read the book for the extra scenes if you still want more. It is worth reading, but the movie is much, much better. ... show more
