Alternator came with a print out of the bench test results showing it passed all test. Installed it and it works great ( so far). Half the price of Auto zone with a warranty.

    • DB Electrical AFD0115 Alternator
No problems with the alternator alone so far. Charging around 14.76 at cold start high idle. This was for a 2006 Ford Focus automatic. There are videos but my hard experience with the removal and installation wasn't so simple. The top mount stud needs to come out, but I would leave the bottom left regular bolt in and take that out last ( and first) and take the bottom and top nuts off to take off the plastic shield if possible. The bottom stud should also has two nuts and a brass washer ring and you would might need a thin enough wrench to hold the nut. The one I did they all came out with the stud. The tensioner has a 15mm hex molded into the arm or should have. The alternator is slightly larger than the gap between the engine and the rack. I think a piece of wood about a 1/4 to half inch wider wedged up between the engine and the rack should give some clearance to remove and install the alternators. The engine is on rubber mounts so it will move a little. Putting the belt back on, one video shows pushing the last part of the belt up on the idler pulley closest to the front or the power steering is easiest.     • My bad for not testing it first
One of the fins on the internal fan on the back side of the alternator was rubbing on the housing and had heat scoring likely due to when the unit was bench tested. Whoever tested it could not have missed the noise, they just didn't care and shipped or packaged it anyway. I was at a friends with a lift and had the old alternator out. My bad for not testing it first. I was able to access the blade with a screwdriver and bend it to stop it from rubbing on the housing. I installed it and it seems to be working but I am worried about failure based on the quality control I have seen so far. Buyer beware, check it first. UPDATE: 11/13/2017, 9 months after purchase it is not working. The internal voltage regulator has failed. Should be a zero star review. ... show more

perfect fit works if it lasts a few years great 2005 for focus pro tip: just do it from the bottom take the bolt out of the bottom motor mount push motor down and towards the front, alt slides out, I changed the belt tensioner at the same time. if you hold the fuel mileage reset button in and turn on the car you can scroll threw the built in test by pushing the button in and you will see a bae that is the voltage the car is seeing before this alt i was seeing any were from 11 to 14 now its 13 -14.4 with everything on btw it takes about 20-30 minutes to put in with no power tools. ... show more
