    • Worked as expected on my 2005 Mazda B2300
Appears to be great quality, comparable to OEM, just by visual inspection. It installed on my 2005 Mazda B2300 without any issues and it fits perfectly and does the job. It took me a few minutes to realize that the mounting holes are intentionally spaced to be slightly too far apart for the mounting bracket that they straddle, so when you first tighten the mounting bolts to snug, there's some room for play. As you keep tightening to the torque specs, though, the mounting holes farthest from the bolt heads actually creep inwards until they're flush with the brackets. That gives you some wiggle room to first place it around the bracket, and it makes sure that the housing indexes against the front holes so that the pulley aligns perfectly with the accessory belt. Smart! Time will tell if this lasts as long as my original alternator (which was still going strong after 18 years and 70k miles - I just replaced it proactively while I was overhauling the A/C system), but I'll try to update this review if anything goes wrong. Obviously I don't drive the truck all that much, so I'm hoping to get another 18 years! ... show more

    • A good choice if funds are tight
So far this has been very good for me. I installed the alternator in my 2002 Ranger 2.3 with about 150,000 miles on it because my old alternator was starting to cause the lights in my truck to flicker. I was nervous about purchasing this alternator but was really low on money and found this unit to be a good deal cheaper than the other brick and mortar parts houses. I noticed a little bit of whining coming from the alternator when I first installed it, but that noise has since gone away on its own. More importantly, this alternator fixed the flickering problem with my lights. If I had the money at the time I bought this, I would have purchased a big box alternator for the better warranty and easier exchange if something does go wrong. After 5 months (3,000 miles) of driving, I haven't had any issues. I hope this alternator will prove reliable enough to give at least a few more years of reliable service. I will update this review if I experience any troubles. If you have the same Ranger as I do, I would recommend buying a replacement upper radiator hose, belt and maybe idler and tensioner pulleys on hand before tackling the job. ... show more

This alternator only lasted me about a year before it started having issues. It’s bad enough now I’m going to have to replace it.

    • Perfect Fit. Half Price
2005 Ranger with a 2.3L 4 cylinder. 245,00 miles. Fit perfectly. Half the price of national auto parts dealers. Ford dealer wanted $715 + for new alternator and battery. Only $125 out of my pocket for parts. Note** My vehicle has AC. In order to replace the alternator, the AC compressor's 4 mounting bolts (10MM) must be removed and the compressor must be tilted up to get the old alternator out and the new in. Be careful not over bend the AC hoses. Only need about 2" more room to remove the alternator. Air filter hose and upper radiator hose must be disconnected for access. It's a bit tight to work in there. Other alternative was removing the fan and fan shroud-forget that. Took us 1.25 hours to complete. ... show more
