I was skeptical at first about ordering this helmet. Didn't want some cheap knock-off and the excellent price made me concerned, but this is the real deal Daytona helmet. I wanted a helmet to wear when riding a small electric moped around town and California Motor Vehicle Code requires it to be DOT approved for a registered/plated moped. I rode motorcycles for more than 60 years and several hundred thousand miles but had to stop due to numerous medical issues. This little moped gets me back on two wheels again and the Daytona Skull Cap is just about right for the situation. My head measures 23 3/16"; at the low end of the 2XL size chart but the web page graphic recommends sizing down so I purchased an XL size. Right answer. The XL helmet is very comfortable; snug but not tight, fits securely without wobbling over bumps and is just the right amount of "oval" for my northern European head. Some comments state that the helmet comes without size labels, but this one arrived in an XL labelled Daytona box and has the XL tag clearly visible inside the helmet. (note that it is made in India...kind of surprised me) The gloss black with visor matches the look of the moped and it fits easily in the small locking top box when the scoot is parked. It's a simple hard shell without ventilation but I'm not doing "time zone to time zone" rides anymore so it's fine for me. The clasp works fine, the straps have enough adjustment and are wide enough to be comfortable. I've only been using the helmet for a couple weeks, so this is an "initial impressions" review and I can't speak to durability yet. Don't want to ever have to describe sturdiness in an accident. So, right now it's feeling like a pretty good helmet.

Intermediate oval shaped 100%. I have a round head but it’s not a deal breaker. Good news is that it’s a simple eps foam so it’s soft enough that I was able to “mold” the hot spots around my round shaped head so it is comfortable now. Had I known that I would have ordered my actual size (2X) instead of a 3X and then done some more “shaping.” Padding is sufficient for short trips around town. The lack of a peak keeps sun protection to a minimum but that’s to be expected. Definitely some mushroom head going on, but for the price I can’t complain since I keep it strapped to my sissy bar and only use it for cruising around city streets. The chin strap is really long and adjustable so the biggest concern should be crown size not jowl size, or sizing to vertically long heads. Can’t speak to durability since I hope I never have to test it, and the material is what one would expect for a helmet in this price range. Nothing fancy but it works. The DOT sticker was enough for me to trust it enough to wear in the first place.

First off... thank you Amazon PRIME for your service "Shopping made a whole lot easier"! Now... Daytona New slim line. Great work on R&D of this new slim line helmet. Light weight, Comfy and Style/DOT. Now the info that I hope will help fellow riders. I'm male and have a normal shaped cranium (no egg shape) and military haircut. Head shape and hair length will play a factor in size. I wear a size Medium in full helmets, anywhere from Arai, Shoei, Shark, etc. I've learned from trial and error with half helmets that not always going a size down will give you the right fit for this style helmet. Take note, this is my opinion, others will defer. I know that everyone has a different shape head and a preference on how truly everyone wants a half helmet to fit. Some want a tad loose, some want a nice snug fit. I had to go from a small to an X-small with this slim line DOT half helmet "why?" Well 2 reasons... 1, I wanted the snug "not tight" just a snugged fit (how a helmet should be worn for your safety) and NO I didn't get the pressure point headache feel from dropping to a size X-small for this helmet. 2. I like the fact that that this helmet stayed put on my crown riding at a good rate of speed (no wind lift) all day in comparison to the size Small. Size small fit good, but just a tiny tad loose and at a good rate of speed the size Small would slightly lift a little. My opinion, I feel that if you wear a fitted baseball cap "snug comfy feel" the measurement of your hat opening (use a measuring tape) should be just about right for your your slim line sizing concerns. Lastly.. Mushroom head on any half helmet will be hard to avoid, it's all about which DOT helmet can slim it down and this SLIM LINE does the job! Very happy with this purchase! Ride safe!

This helmet seemed to be of decent quality, and according to the sizing chart, I ordered a large. I was a bit hesitant with this, because virtually EVERY helmet that I own and have tried on, is a size medium. The sizing chart was right on though, and the helmet itself fit like a glove. However, the strap itself would not tighten to where I would need it to in order to be as snug as it should. This was due to the square piece of plastic on one strap that is put there to tuck up the slack once the helmet is tightened down. I possibly could have made it tighter by removing this piece of hardware, but I prefer to find one that I do not have to alter in this way in order for it to work (I in no way have a small head either). I am aware that if you are going to have a D.O.T. certified half helmet, then "mushroom head" is virtually unavoidable. With that said, I did see a few reviews claiming that this helmet did a little better in that department, and mine did not. It had as bad of a "mushroom head" effect as any helmet that I have ever tried, possible even worse than most. Three stars because the product is of decent construction and may work for some, and Amazon accepted my return with no issue.
