I'm a bassist and a luthier. I have built many basses and guitars. I bought this bass because it's cheaper to buy this bass than individually buying all the parts. A finished Precision bass body costs more than than this bass. I wanted to build up a Mike Durnt type Precision bass. The bass came and it is surprisingly a decent instrument. Out of the box it was not tuned up to pitch. The strings were loose and I tuned it up. The strings were very high and I lowered the bridge saddles down three whole turns and tuned it up again. The action was now very comfortable and it played great. The neck was straight, the frets were all level and the intonation was true. The neck is very fat. It is reminiscent of an early 50's Precision bass. If you have smaller hands or are a young teen then you might find this neck challenging. The nut width is at least 1 5/8" and the back of the neck is a C style that is almost like a half circle. The truss rod was properly set and didn't need any adjustment. I usually like wider necks but this one is wider and thicker than any bass I've seen. It is almost like the neck on my bass fiddle. The neck is well sanded and smooth but there is no finish on the neck, it is bare maple wood. The body has nice poly finish on it but I can see that it could have been sanded more and the edges tapered a little better before finishing. The reason this bass can be sold so inexpensively is that there is no pick guard, no control plate and no finish on the neck. The pickup and controls work fine and the bass actually sounds pretty good with a deep tone and plenty of sustain. The volume/tone controls mount directly into the wood and there is an access panel in the back. The panel is mounted on top of the body and not flush. That's another cost saver. I modified the neck headstock to look like a telecaster bass headstock. I finished the neck with a few light coats of satin poly. I also made a 50's style pick guard and added a 50's style control plate. I kept the tuning gears stock and they seem to stay in tune. I may change out the neck to a thinner profile Precision type neck but the neck pocket will have to be slightly routed to accept it. This bass is a decent bass right out of the box that needs some set up and adjusting. It plays well and sounds good although the neck may be too wide and thick for some players. I’m really disappointed with this bass guitar. No matter how much I adjusted it, there was no sound. I checked the battery, cables, and amplifier, and everything was fine. Even after replacing the battery, it still didn’t work. For an instrument that can’t perform its basic function, it’s completely unacceptable. I don’t recommend it! ... show more

Great guitar and really good quality. I was really surprised at how nice this is for the money. So, I had to work with the seller because I bought the wrong guitar. I got a left side but I needed a right. Doh. So the return wasn't a problem and they worked really well with me. I bought a discounted return label from them because this was not Amazon Prime. They got the first one back the same day I got the new one I ordered. Then a day later they refunded my first one minus the return label cost (about $31.00). I'm very happy with everything. BACK panel fell off after 5 days of playing and the screws that hold the strap also loosen to easily. Many guitars are very expensive so I guess for a beginner it is good he’s enjoying it until now so I guess it’s okay. Just letting other buyers know.
