    • Quality and ease of use
6 months in and still very happy, it replaced my 16 year old Vantage Pro which also worked flawlessly. This model is smaller with a much better console display, overall easier to use and can be remotely accessed with the free Weather Link app on my phone. This means I can check on local weather conditions including temperatures inside my house while away, inside temperature is very big for us having pets. It costs a little more but you're getting a far superior pro grade instrument. Davis makes serious weather equipment that they stand behind. ... show more

So far so good. This is my second Davis product, the first was a Davis Vantage Pro 2 which was still running after 14 years. Just purchase the Vantage Vue and so far it has been great. There is a Davis Weather Link App you can setup to check your weather station from your iPhone. The help desk assisted in helping with any problems......... Made in America which is impressive also....... Expensive yes but they work, great support and they last along time........... ... show more

    • Touch screen tech like 1991
I have an older version of this with the previous version of the indoor receiver/console, and I loved it. The outdoor unit is the same and has lasted well over a decade in a high desert environment (111F to -18F). My old outdoor unit is failing, so I decided to try a new package with a touch-screen "update". My unit arrived in good condition, but it was clear early on that the touch screen console was lacking in performance and quality compared to any smartphone released since the iPhone's first version. Touch interface feels and responds like something from 30 years ago or the infuriatingly slow and imprecise gas station touch screens or decades old airport check-in touchscreens. Do not expect a modern tablet or phone level of interaction. The response time was extremely slow and would lock up often (with no response to anything for a few minutes, hard resetting to get any functionality again). Buttons on the screen are not actually buttons in most cases, but expect a swipe action, which took time to discover. The firmware was not up to date and was fundamentally different than the online manual, and without WiFi to connect to the internet, a few options that I wanted were not available (this was being installed where I don't have the option for internet access): one example being the screen could not ever be turned off with the older firmware. Many things seemed lacking in the interaction, such as when being prompted to enter lat/lon information, no hint about the expected numerical format is given. Customization is limited to only select option pairings, and overall I find the new touch-screen layout to offer less information at a glance and this requires more interaction (with that terrible touch-screen) and hassle to get to the amount of information I could get to with the old fixed layout console. I did not keep this and would preference a used console vs. the new one, but if there is no change by the time I really need a new unit, I'll go with another brand. The outdoor unit remains excellent and I'd buy another one to pair with my 14 year old indoor unit. ... show more

Battery included lasted for under a few mo. To change it requires a ladder if it’s properly mounted. Otherwise working flawlessly.

    • Works great once you know the region/frequency setting — and outstanding seller support
Great weather station, but there is one non-obvious setup point that would have made me return it as defective if not for the seller's help. Out of the box, my WeatherLink Console would not receive any data from the Vantage Vue sensor. The console showed the sensor as not connected, with no signal and no battery reading — a total loss of reception that looked exactly like a hardware failure. I worked through every troubleshooting step (matching transmitter IDs, placing the units inches apart, a full sensor reset, factory reboots) with no success. The actual cause is not hardware. This is a US-frequency (902–928 MHz) station, and the console only receives when the Country setting (under Account information) is set to United States. If you use it outside the US and set a foreign location, the console changes frequency and goes silent. A subtle catch: moving the location pin automatically changes the country, which drops reception — so keep Country set to United States. You can still display your real location correctly on the WeatherLink map. Special mention to the seller, Robert Ingham at RainmanWeather. He responded quickly, correctly diagnosed the regional-frequency issue, and even ran his own testing to confirm exactly which setting controls it. Genuinely knowledgeable, responsive support — the reason this ended as a great experience instead of a return. Tip: if you are outside the US, ideally buy the correct regional frequency variant for your country. But if you have a US unit, the Country = United States setting is the fix. ... show more

    • Good Weather Station.
We have had this Davis weather station for a year now, the app is easy to use and set up with the station. It is great to be able to see all the data the station supplies and now yearly comparisons. The station is a better quality than the last station we purchased, worth the extra cost. The display gives all the information you may need, it’s nice that the display goes to sleep and quickly wakes back up when needed. ... show more
