Description

EXPLORE BEYOND THE FAMILIAR. Inspired by decades of legendary hiking boots, we partnered with Vibram to forge a new path in hiking footwear. The combination of the Vibram SPE midsole and Fuga outsole gives unparalleled grip on wet and dry surfaces while providing superior cushioning without the weight. Designed to withstand the climate and terrain of the Pacific Northwest, we utilized a smooth suede or full grain leather upper and Danner Dry waterproof protection. The Mountain 600 defines a new category in hiking boots we call Performance Heritage - combining our classic styling with lightweight innovation. The second lace option included with this boot is brown.

  • Great shoes.
Size: 12 Wide Color: Rich Brown
Well made, my second pair. Good toe room, good traction, comfortable. Do not require breaking in. Experience gained from my first pair says these boots are not for off trail mountain hiking, despite the name, too flexible and tread not deep enough in rough rocky terrain, but on established smoother trails they work fine. And they are great for every day wear all day. The Vibram soles wear very well. On soft trails they are excellent. I like this model so well that I recently self repaired my 5yr old pair, shows in first photo, I am not a shoe repairman, just wanted more use from a great shoe. Second photo shows soles old vs new, not bad for 5 years and hikes experienced. Some hikes were very rough and rocky off trail mountain hikes, so very pleased with the durability. I now have inserts that corrected my heel wear pattern, I no longer abrade the heels unevenly. ... show more

  • Killer Boots
Size: 12 Color: Olive/Timberwolf
These are killer boots. I’ve never owned Danners but I’m a big fan of Danner now, I’ll tell you that much. They fit true to size and they feel like they were designed around my actual foot. They fit that well. They wear nice around the house, around town, and on the hiking trails. I really don’t like taking them off sometimes because they look as good as they wear. They’re very lightweight for their functionality too. I wasn’t expecting that. They are well worth the money. Don’t be a moron and buy cheap boots, buy good boots and they’ll wear twice as long and you’ll be twice as happy. And you’ll look like you actually know what you’re doing when you get dressed in the morning. They’re a little on the spendy side but they’re made in America for crying out loud and they’re high quality so get off the fence and buy some if you’re in the market for hiking boots. You’ll thank me later. I’m out. ... show more

  • Quality boots!
Size: 13 Color: Chocolate Chip/Golden Oak
My so loves these durable boots! He’s in between a size 12 and 13. They’re comfortable for him. I sent him thick socks to make up the difference.

  • The Best Hiking Boots I Have Ever Had
Size: 10.5 Color: Rich Brown
This boot, Danner's Mountain 600, is hands down the most comfortable hiking boot I have ever had the pleasure to wear--and this right out of the box. No break in! This is the hallmark of a good boot. If it doesn't feel right right away it's going to be wrong all the time in my experience. I'm 70 and I bought these boots to replace my almost 20-year-old boots that have about 25,000 miles on them (not exaggerating). I lost track of how many times they were resoled. They are Havana Joe's Chukka boots, which I wore with an insert. Talk about a tough boot! So those are going in the trunk of my car for emergency wear. And these great Danner's boots are now my every day hiking boot. I just returned from an after-dinner one-hour fast hike in the dusk in the hills around my home. I can't say enough about the comfort level--buy these boots and you won't be sorry. The grip is great, the ankle support is just right without overdoing it. I should mention that I do have a hard to fit foot. My ankle is narrow and doesn't like slipping around (whose do?), I also have a high arch and am often troubled by shoes that hurt the top of my foot. My toe span is wider in relation to my ankle and those toes like a good deal of room. So Danner's boots addressed all these issues for me beautifully. A true 10 1/2 D is my fit, though my right foot would probably like a 10 3/4 D!! But the toe box is generous and my right foot was just as happy as my left foot. I was a bit hesitant about buying a hiking boot without trying it on but I was fortunate that Danner's sizes their boots just right--so 10 1/2 D it is. I hope this recommendation helps out any of you who read this. Happy hiking! ... show more

  • Light, comfy, durable, and... wait, Portland Select is actually marketing speak for Made in Vietnam?
Size: 10.5 Color: Saddle Tan
Bought the 600's for a hiking trip overseas later this year, but wanted to make sure I broke them in early. The good news is that I probably won't need to do much to break these in, they fit like a nice pair of basketball shoes right out of the box. I read reviews beforehand and went with a size 1/2 smaller than normal, and as expected a 10 1/2 fits like my normal 11's. They're stylish, light, and are by far some of the most comfortable boots I have. I look forward to putting some miles on them. The bad news is that the tongue section that attaches to the side ends at the base of the rise, so unless you keep to walking in puddles I doubt the boots will be as waterproof as regular Danners, which usually stay attached all the way to the top of the rise. They also do a good job of hiding the fact that these boots aren't actually made by hand or in Portland, OR, but instead in Vietnam. Kind of defeats the purpose of wanting to buy a good pair of Danners if you find out after the fact that they probably were made in the same Vietnamese factory as a pair of regular basketball shoes. Explains why they're so much less expensive than most of their other boots. Finally, (and this isn't any fault of Danner), but the pair shipped to me had obviously been returned by another buyer on Amazon. The inside and outside of both boots, as well as the laces and inside of the box, was covered in animal hair. Not just a few hairs, but a gross amount of hair. And the sole was dirty. My wife made me clean my brand new boots outside before I could wear them. Not cool quality control person at Amazon... Not cool. ... show more

Size: 11 Color: Loam Brown/Glazed Ginger - New
At first they felt tight on my heels and I was frustrated. Then I tried them on a different day and wore them and it was something else. They command a presence. Like a quiet, refined luxury. I appreciate the 2 sets of laces and the patterns which are high quality. These are my first Danners and you've earned a loyal customer. Noteworthy: they suggest ordering a 1/2 size down from normal. I did, it worked out for me well. Wide toe box, great grip. Wonderful boots! I don't use these for hiking, but rather work. I have my Asolo Acadia GTX's for the trails. ... show more
