Description

EXPLORE BEYOND THE FAMILIAR. Inspired by decades of legendary hiking boots, we partnered with Vibram to forge a new path in hiking footwear. The combination of the Vibram SPE midsole and Fuga outsole gives unparalleled grip on wet and dry surfaces while providing superior cushioning without the weight. Designed to withstand the climate and terrain of the Pacific Northwest, we utilized a smooth suede or full grain leather upper and Danner Dry waterproof protection. • Great shoes.
Size: 12 Wide Color: Rich Brown
Well made, my second pair. Good toe room, good traction, comfortable. Do not require breaking in. Experience gained from my first pair says these boots are not for off trail mountain hiking, despite the name, too flexible and tread not deep enough in rough rocky terrain, but on established smoother trails they work fine. And they are great for every day wear all day. The Vibram soles wear very well. On soft trails they are excellent. I like this model so well that I recently self repaired my 5yr old pair, shows in first photo, I am not a shoe repairman, just wanted more use from a great shoe. Second photo shows soles old vs new, not bad for 5 years and hikes experienced. Some hikes were very rough and rocky off trail mountain hikes, so very pleased with the durability. I now have inserts that corrected my heel wear pattern, I no longer abrade the heels unevenly. ... show more

  • Love, love, love these Danners!
Size: 9.5 Color: Rich Brown
I've had these boots for a few months and have used them several times on various hikes. Wet, mountain terrain and hot, dry, rocky terrain. Usually no more than 5 miles give or take. I love these boots. They stayed cool in the heat, stayed dry splashing near mountain stream crossings, and still look great. I have problematic feet, surgery, collapsed arches, etc and these felt great right out of the box. First hike, I didn't have time to break them in and packed a LOT of bandaids, expecting the worst with blisters. Not one blister! I am female and ordered the men's boots because of the needed wider width (the boots themselves weren't a width width, however) that even in a women's wide width doesn't always work for me. There was plenty of room in the toe box, no cramping. The boots seemed feather light to me, but I read reviews stating they were a tad heavy. I was completely happy with the sizing and the weight. They grip GREAT!! I was climbing around and over boulders on a canyon petroglyph tour fearlessly!! I have a tendency to research things to death ( I searched hiking boot brands for MONTHS) and these were well worth the price! ... show more

  • High quality and extremely comfortable!
Size: 13 Color: Coyote
I bought these for my husband for a hiking/fishing trip to Montana, he loves them! They didn’t require a “break-in” period and were comfortable and durable right out of the box. Even after a week of use they still look brand new. The gore-Tex material is thick and comfortable and kept his feet dry and warm the entire trip. After researching hiking boots for weeks, these boots are well worth the price they are easy to maintain and very well made. ... show more

  • It is hard to buy boots without actually seeing them.
Extremely pleased with the wide width toe room and they are comfortable. Would consider these boots light or midweight which should be alright for hiking trails or roads, but not rough terrain. The padding on the soles could be better. The description title states "full grain leather upper", the fine print (read after) says suede. Was also hoping for leather underneath the laces. Husband rated these as a 4 as they will be fine for everyday use, but will definitely be looking for a heavy weight boot for his next purchase. ... show more

  • Killer Boots
Size: 12 Color: Olive/Timberwolf
These are killer boots. I’ve never owned Danners but I’m a big fan of Danner now, I’ll tell you that much. They fit true to size and they feel like they were designed around my actual foot. They fit that well. They wear nice around the house, around town, and on the hiking trails. I really don’t like taking them off sometimes because they look as good as they wear. They’re very lightweight for their functionality too. I wasn’t expecting that. They are well worth the money. Don’t be a moron and buy cheap boots, buy good boots and they’ll wear twice as long and you’ll be twice as happy. And you’ll look like you actually know what you’re doing when you get dressed in the morning. They’re a little on the spendy side but they’re made in America for crying out loud and they’re high quality so get off the fence and buy some if you’re in the market for hiking boots. You’ll thank me later. I’m out. ... show more

  • No break in required
Size: 9.5 Wide Color: Brown/Red
Great hiking boots. I’ve been suffering with some older Oboz because I thought hiking boots had to be hard and expected my feet to hurt after long hike. These needed no break in. Comfortable as soon as I put them on. I usually buy from REI but they cost less here and there was a much better selection including wider sizes. Can’t wait to wear them on my Alaska hike. ... show more

  • Buy Them NOW
Size: 11 Wide Color: Brown/Red
There are many different types of hiking boots out there made for all kinds of situations, and there is no single boot that fits everyone's needs. I've been hiking on Asolo boots for years. And while their boots are undeniably rugged and durable, these Danner Mountain 600s check some things off the list that the Asolos do not. Here's what you need to know about these mountain 600's. Let's start with ankle support. Many boot makers design their boots to be stiff in the ankles to provide support to prevent you from rolling your ankle. But ankle support is not the primary way to prevent injuring yourself on the trail. The goal is to design a boot that gives you the ability to flex and feel the terrain under your feet so that your feet can do the job they're naturally designed to do; feel what you're walking on and send signals to the brain that help you maintain your balance. Most boots are so stiff that you lose this natural ability, and as a result, the ankles have to be stiff because you'll be rolling your ankles left and right! Why else do you think you roll your ankles more in hiking boots than you do in a pair of running shoes? And why, do you think, so many backpackers are choosing to hike in sneakers? The waterproofing is very good. The material is suede so you will need to treat it from time to time. However, I have no issues trudging through streams in the Adirondacks. Boots are lightweight and feel feather like on your feet. Grip is phenomenal. Wet leaves, pine needles, dirt and mud, bare rock... I can scale all of it. Buy these boots if you're looking for: 1. Lightweight Design 2. Sneaker like feel 3. Excellent grip in all situations 4. Flexible soles for a good under-foot feel. ... show more
