I order this bag every school year for my son. It never disappoints and holds up extremely well except for the water bottle pocket, that by the end of the year, usually has a hole! This is the second Dakine back pack we have bought and will continue to go back to that brand. First one lasted 5 years and was used as a school back pack. This is the second backpack I have purchased from Dakine. The first backpack lasted 5 years with very little signs of wear. Other backpacks I have bought for my kid have torn before the school year was finished. I can’t say enough good things about Dakine!

I bought mine directly from the Dakine website. Before this I had a 2015 model (Hawthorne) and loved it, but this new version just doesn't feel good to use. The material with this version is much less comfortable than that old one. There's less space between the top handle and the bag which rubs against you hand while you're carrying it. The more narrow shoulder straps increases the pressure they apply and it adds up fast. The horizontal fabric connecting the two shoulder straps at the top can rub against the back of your neck, especially when using the chest strap. The top zipper catches on the seam at the 2 o'clock position (facing you). There are just so many things about this bag that make the experience unpleasant, and this went from one of the best products I've ever used to something that felt burdensome, which to me is unacceptable for a $75 backpack. ... show more

I ordered my daughter's first Dakine backpack in 8th grade. This is only her second one. She's in Graduate School studying for a PhD right now. I'm not saying this to brag but to show you that her original backpack carried her through 4 years of HS and years as an undergrad in College. That original backpack took a lot of abuse and carried a lot of heavy books and even when it came time to replace it, it had issues BUT it was not falling apart. I can't say enough about this brand.
