I’m not usually a brand exclusive kinda person, but these are the best electric guitar strings period. D’Addarios exl series are cheap, stay bright way longer than the folks with the paper packaging, and just flat out sound amazing. The balanced tension ones in particular are great if you have a guitar that has a floated bridge or some sort of tremolo unit on it. I don’t see a terrible difference between this set and the regular exl strings, but I do prefer these when I’m able to buy them. I used various Ernie Ball strings on electric for a little over 20 years because they were popular and cheap, but I've always used D'Addario strings on classical. I finally decided to try out their electric options, and I now look back on those decades of using inferior strings in shame. I know it's a matter of opinion, but I could never bring myself to play any other brand of strings. Brand loyalty is the most cringe thing imaginable, but D'Addario strings are exactly what I want out of guitar strings. I have no idea how they manage to break themselves in so quickly, but I no longer have to spend the first three days of new strings constantly tuning. I used Ernie Balls for years then for some reason transitioned to D-Addario on one of my guitars. They are nice strings with a bright sound, but I find they don't last as long as the EB Super Slinky strings, and prefer the latter overall for feel and my style of playing. Of course all that is highly subjective so it doesn't mean much. Any new set of strings is better than the set you're removing, and I can see why some people would favor D'Addario. Had a guitar to repair, cleaned it up, refinished it, slapped on some new electronics, some new hardware, and these strings, and it is very nice. I usually play acoustic, so this is a bit new to me, and with that they perform very well. I was terrified of strings breaking, but putting these on I wasn't super scared, the tension is really great and stay in tune very well. ... show more
