  • Cygolite Hypershot – 350 Lumen Bike Tail Light
Style: 350 Lumens
I don't bike much but realize it's important to be seen both day and night. I have witnessed people on bikes without lights or lights that were so dim during the day that i thought why bother; one I believe was even a "brake light" type of rear light that barely got brighter when stopping - this is not dim. I haven't used it on the bike yet but indoors this light is bright; it projected light at least 25 feet with a large spot of red light on the wall. It can change speed of the flashes in flash modes and the light brightness for the steady on & buzz mode; I'm thinking that even at the lowest light brightness if another biker is behind you it'll be too bright because of the way it projects the light.. I bought it for the daytime flash mode, the ability to change the brightness and flash speeds. It has a clip to put it on a bike bag that's mounted behind or under the seat (have to hold keys somewhere! :-) ). It came almost fully charged but I did have to top it off but it was a quick top off. It seems to be a well built product and hopefully it'll last a while. I know there are higher lumen taillights than this one but if this projects as well outside in day light as it did in the house it''ll be a great taillight. ... show more

  • Perfect and bright.
Style: 350 Lumens
It is the brightest one that I could find. It is easy to adjust the light brightness and to change modes. The highest brightness may be too bright for nighttime use. But, it is excellent for daytime use. Which, is what I got it for. It seems secure. But, I feel like it needs a lanyard. I will eventually add one, in the best way that I can. It's too nice of a light to not have it on a lanyard. Just in case. / It was too low to connect it to the seat post on my bicycle. The back tire was higher than it. So, I purchased the under-seat attachment. But, it was barley high enough. I'd like more mounting options. Like, 90 degrees. ... show more

  • This rear light is bright and effective for safe road cycling!
Style: 350 Lumens
An exceptional rear light for road cycling. While my first one simply died and stopped working, this is still the best rear visibility option I have used.

  • Possibly too bright for group rides
Style: 350 Lumens
This is one of the brightest rear tail lights out there. Expertly designed, too/ May take a minute to familiarize yourself with the various settings. It is extremely bright at night. On a recent group ride, i had several people tell me it was blinding them. Then they asked who makes it? I had to study the settings to find out how to make it dimmer. You can only do this in two modes: Steady and Buzz Flash. The L button controls on/off and switching between modes. The right button will dim or brighten the light in those two modes. It comes with two mounts, for seatpost and seatstay. You can also clip it to a bag. If you want to mount it to a rack, you need to buy the rack mount, which needs extra hardware to fit on a Blackburn MTB rack. There is also a saddle rail mount available. I usually clip it to my under-seat bag, but I could also clip it to my rack bag or a messenger bag or backpack. AFAIK, there's no real way to clip it to the back of a helmet, except for maybe an aftermarket strap. It has some proprietary tech that adjusts brightness to meet different lighting conditions, which gives it a variable run time in every mode. I have no idea how this actually works, but Cygolite mention it in their marketing materials. It will also remember the last setting when turned on, which is a nice feature. If and when sheer britness matters, this may be the king of shine. It certain;y gives confidence in night riding that you will be visible in traffic. Just remember to dial it down if going on a group ride. ... show more

  • One of the brightest tail lights made!
Style: 250 Lumens
I owned a Cygolite Hotshot 100 for years and a competitors tail light before this. I keep coming back to Cygolite for a reason. Durability and features that are really used (some newer tail lights even adapt to braking which I find to be a gimmick), not features of limited to no use at all. For the reason of price alone, I chose the 250 lumen version of this light. The Hotshot 100 I had was very visible. It just took forever to charge. This light came with just above 50% charge and took less than an hour and a half to charge fully. We'll see if the claims of 3 hour charge time holds factual once i drain the battery to charging level again. Just two gripes about this light and Cygolite should be ashamed of itself. The seatpost clamp does NOT fit a 31.6 mm seatpost. They seem to be holding onto the smaller standard for seatposts. Thankfully, they've now made the standard for tail light mounts and I was able to use the old tail light mount to mount it to the seatpost until I get the T-mount I ordered specifically for my rack in and mounted. The second gripe is common to most bicycle tail lights. However, Cygolite still hasn't addressed their largest complaint. The charging port cover will not last more than a year at best even with the newer cover that I noticed. One of their competitors makes a better port cover, but not much better. Eventually, I'll have to replace it with duct tape to prevent moisture from entering at this point which is what killed the last Cygolite I owned. All said, I still recommend the Cygolite's. Headlamp or tail light. Their products will last even if you dump the bicycle while riding on wet or uneven surfaces. They are well worth their price. I only docked one star for the minimal gripes I had. ... show more

  • The brightest out there!
Style: 350 Lumens
It's blindingly bright even in the day time you can see the light from 1/2 a mile , I had first seen this with a rider climbing up mt diablo and was impressed with its daytime performance so decided to give it a try. PROs: Many! to begin with its super super bright! @350 lumens!!!, it has a long lasting battery lasts my 100 miler without issues. Easy to mount and go , pretty good design suitable to mount on the seatpost not under the saddle like many a small ones out there. Also this is bright from the side profile and aptly right dimensions to be not too small Only CON is its not USB-C :( ... show more
