Description

CURT 45900 Adjustable Trailer Hitch Ball Mount, 2-Inch Receiver, 6-Inch Drop, 5-1/4-Inch Rise, 2-Inch and 2-5/16-Inch Tow Balls, 14,000 lbs.,Black If you own multiple trailers or frequently tow a variety of loads, you know how much time and money are spent tailoring your towing system to each and every individual trailer. There is nothing more inconvenient than switching back and forth between a few different ball mounts and trying to remember which mount fits with which trailer. A CURT adjustable ball mount is your multipurpose towing solution. This CURT adjustable channel-style ball mount has a shank size of 2" x 2" and features two different trailer ball sizes to accommodate two different coupler sizes: 2" and 2-5/16". It also features an adjustable shank assembly with multiple mounting holes for varying ball heights. Each trailer ball can be raised to a maximum of 5-1/4" rise or lowered to a maximum of 6" drop, allowing you to make your trailer completely level in any towing situation. The channel-style design and dual-pin mounting system also provide a built-in anti-rattle feature to eliminate obnoxious chucking noises. This CURT adjustable ball mount offers a gross trailer weight capacity of up to 10,000 lbs. for the 2" ball and 14,000 lbs. for the 2-5/16" ball. It allows you to tow a variety of heavyweight trailers, and it features two pin holes in the shank to be mounted at an 11" or 12" length. The adjustable channel-style shank can also be used with the channel-style combination pintle mount or ball mount platform attachment to give you the option of installing your own trailer ball size. All CURT channel-style adjustable ball mounts are made with sturdy steel construction and come with our black carbide powder coat finish for long-lasting rust, scratch and UV resistance. CURT 23518 Black Trailer Hitch Lock, 5/8-Inch Pin Diameter, Fits 2-Inch Receiver Make your tow vehicle and trailer more secure by keeping them locked up tight with a CURT hitch lock. Like a hitch pin and clip, a hitch lock is designed to insert into the fastener hole in the side of a receiver tube in order to hold a ball mount or hitch-mounted accessory in place. While a CURT hitch pin does offer sufficient strength for keeping your ball mount firmly attached, a CURT hitch lock goes one step further. CURT hitch locks allow you to lock your ball mount into your trailer hitch, deterring theft and preventing anyone from detaching your trailer at the ball mount and towing away your property without your permission. This CURT hitch lock features a barbell design and comes with a 5/8" pin diameter to fit a 2" receiver tube size (usable pin length is 2.850"; will not work with double-walled receiver tubes). CURT barbell hitch locks are comprised of a pin with two end caps and a round locking mechanism. They are key-operated and activate with a simple 1/4-turn. They also come with a watertight dust cap to keep out the elements and prevent corrosion. For the ultimate in towing security, a hitch lock and coupler lock used together will provide security at both the vehicle-side and trailer-side of your towing setup. For your boat, ATV or camper, keep your toys more secure with CURT hitch locks.

  • Game Changer

This hitch receiver has been a game changer. I drive a minivan, and while it looks massive, has been such a time saver. Because you’re able to just pull a couple pins, it’s easy to move up or down. It’s also easy to flip over to use the other size ball. I have 2 different trailers I pull. A pop up camper, and a utility trailer. Both have different ride hights, and I can easily move this up or down to keep the trailers level. The only thing I could see an improvement on, would be to include locked bolts, instead of the pins. At least 1 locked bolt. Would help with the possibility of theft. I will be looking into this at some time in the near future. The only thing that was wrong with mine, was that the pin used to latch the bolt in place was bent, and after attempting the vice, it just wasn’t going to go back, so I picked up a couple from the home improvement store. Overall, I wouldn’t hesitate to purchase another one if I was to need one again. ... show more

  • Outstanding Bundle! Even if you don't need both, get this kit for in case
Style: Mount + Channel-Mount Pintle Hitch
These things are solid! I don't have a pintle setup on anything but I have towed some equipment that had that setup in which I needed to borrow one from someone. With this I have the best of all worlds and the fact my truck sits rather high for a factory setup requires a drop down to help out and this setup has it all! Solid all around configuration with some weight behind it, its surely not light, but very effective! ... show more

  • Best of The Best!
Style: Single
So much better than the B&W ones! I love that it’s cotter pins instead of key locking pins (on the Texas coast those last a whole week before seizing) You could probably add grade 8 bolts and nuts if you wanted to make it a little harder to steal. But man this thing is stout! Solid metal! It’s a must! ... show more

  • Built to last!
Style: Single
It may cost a little more than some alternatives, but it's more versatile and the build quality will last for a life time. I have mine mounted on an F-150 and works with pretty much anything that most people will be hauling. As long as the specs you need are met, you can't go wrong with this hitch!

  • Expectations exceeded
Style: Single
Just put 500+ miles on it towing my boat. A couple of criticisms. 1. The tolerance accumulation of the cross pins for the ball mount to the channel holes provide gaps that will result in rattles. I solved this by wrapping .020 thick Inconel sheet stock around the 2 cross pins and installing this into the channel. Solved the loose fit easily. Kurt should review the tolerance stack of these items to reduce the gap but still providing a "go" fit. 2. The cross pins supplied are non-locking as they have a simple hitch-pin (hairpin cotter pin). To lock the forged ball mount to the channel you need to purchase a wide locking cross pin. So understand that this adds to the total cost. All in all, I am still impressed with this purchase and would recommend it to anyone in need of an adjustable heavy duty mount. I am an aerospace engineer by profession, and I rarely gush over a purchased product. However, this mount exceeds all of my expectations. Those claiming it does not have a setscrew or poor cast metal quality - I suggest they spend some time reading the Curt Catalog. First, model # 45900 does not have a setscrew - it uses a rubber bumper/snubber - by design. Only select part numbers use the setscrew. Secondly, the 45912 double ball is not a casting - it is a forged product and I will take a forging against a casting of similar design any day due to superior grain refinement and metallurgical properties. Regarding"made in India" - the only indication of this is on the package itself. I have asked Curt Tech Support if this is correct. Regardless, the main ball mount is well-designed, with double-gussets spanning the long side. Full wrap around welds (semi-automatic MIG welds I believe) look good to my eyes, and I look at welds every day on products that fly on commercial aircraft. A single gusset on the short leg is also well executed. All-in-all, a well-designed, well fabricated adjustable ball mount and I look forward to its first use. I would be stunned if my opinions change after this. My only wish it that they would offer a similar part in stainless steel, especially the 45912 double ball. Corrosion generally occurs as this is the interface to the trailer coupler and the ball carries the towed load and wears thru most every coating available. As another thought, I may have a similar part machined from 6Al-4V titanium plate. That will solve any future corrosion problems and the part will be substantially lighter, albeit a bit expensive. ... show more
