  • BUY IT YOU'LL LOVE IT - JUICE FOR THE HEALTH OF IT!
This my first juicer and I searched all over the Internet for one. Not knowing if this was going to be a passing phase of become an everyday lifestyle change, I decided to buy one around $100.00, juice it to death and buy a more expensive one when the time came. I've been making smoothies forever with a Nutribullet using greens, but wanted to get into juicing. As with most everyone, I watched the movie "Fat, Sick and Nearly Dead" by Joe Cross. I don't need to lose weight, am already Vegan, just wanted to go the extra mile. I chose this model and couldn't be happier. It's easy to put together, easy to clean, big, and my pulp is dry! I have tried putting my pulp through a second time just to see if anything else would come through, but maybe only a dribble - not worth the trouble. I LOVE the dial and if you READ the instructions, you'll see that different fruits and veggies require different settings to get the most juice. A cucumber uses #1, oranges #2, carrots, apples #5. At first I wanted to crank it up to #5 and put them all through - don't do this. I was and cut up all my ingredients first. I set the dial and put the fruits and veggies in according to the settings. I get the best juice ever. I usually make two 32oz juices per day, Joe's Mean Green as my morning juice. The filter basket is hard for me to get off, but easy for me to clean. I clean the outside with a different, larger kitchen brush, rinse that side, then brush the inside of the filter basked with soap, rinse and it's perfectly clean. All other pieces are so easy to rinse and clean. Do not scrub the plastic as you will scratch it. The machine is loud, but that doesn't bother me one bit. The Cuisinart CJE-1000 is heavy duty, won't operate without the clasp on, so easy to use, looks great on my counter, affordable and a fantastic choice. The feeding tube is huge and you won't believe how many whole apples, oranges, cucumbers will go right in. This purchase has not made this a passing phase, but a daily addition to an already healthy lifestyle. I'm 62 and going strong! ... show more

  • This is a great option!--well, not so much after all
I already own a Breville juicer, and really like it a lot, but my daughter is using it at her house. I read reviews about lots of juicers and this one got some pretty mixed reviews. Since it is a Cuisinart, 1000 hp and a great, moderate price, I ordered one. It arrived yesterday but when we turned it to speed 4 or 5, the thing turned off!! And the pulp was really wet. I'd read a few reviews where this was a problem, so I contacted Amazon and with their usual efficiency, they had another one on a truck immediately. It was delivered this morning!! Wow! The new one fired right up and makes perfect juice with a dry pulp. I love this juicer! Love that it's stainless steel and so easy to clean. I also love that I can see how much juice is in the pitcher and how much pulp is in the hopper. Looking forward to using the Cuisinart lots in the future. Thanks again, Amazon for replacing it with NO hassle at all. After using this machine daily for over a month, I've become more and more unhappy with it. My main gripe is that the pulp is so wet that I can squeeze juice out of it. Also I see slices of apple and carrot in the hopper. I can get more juice out when I run the pulp through, but who wants that hassle in the morning? I'm packing this up and trying to get somebody to buy it from me. Just ordered a Breville to replace it because juicing has become a lifestyle for me and I'm not quitting! ... show more

  • Honest & Fair Review-READ!
I was inspired to buy a juicer after watching the documentaries "Fat, Sick, and Nearly Dead", "Forks Over Knives", "Food Inc.", and "Food Matters". I didn't want to spend a ton of money on a Breville and this has many of the same features. The 1000 watt motor is powerful enough to easily juice just about everything. I've used it with apples, kale, carrots, spinach, strawberries, peaches, pears, blueberries, grapes, starfruit, cranberries, and pineapple just to name a few. I've used it twice a day for almost 3 weeks (at the time of this review) and have noticed good and bad... PROS: -Powerful 1000w motor comparable or better than any Breville at the same price range. -5 different settings to adjust for softer/harder fruits and veggies -Very Quiet -Anti-Froth pitcher works great CONS: -You have to clean the juicer immediately after you're done juicing (so I usually have to wait before I can even enjoy the juice I just made)The mesh screen can be a pain to clean. The included brush helps but you always have to get the teeth, the inside, the outside AND UNSCREW the teeth to get under the metal plate, then RESCREW it back together. -The big plastic lid has some areas that are hard to reach when cleaning, even when using a dish washer. -Pulp can be a little wet at times but I've noticed that it somewhat depends on what you're juicing (using more fruits is going to give you some wet pulp but a more veggie heavy juice isn't as wet) TIPS: -Always put an empty plastic bag (like the type you get from the grocery store) in the pulp catcher because it makes clean up so easy...lift the plastic bag out and throw it away (or use the pulp to make compost). The pulp catcher will never need more than maybe a rinse by using a plastic bag. -I usually have a glass ready with ice in it to pour my juice over. I personally think all juices taste better over ice. You could also throw the juice into a blender with some bananas, nuts, or whatever you like! Endless possibilities! (smoothies, etc...) RESPONSE TO COMPLAINTS: Some people on here complain about wet pulp or not enough juice but HELLO you're spending less than $150 on a juicer! If you want the top shelf then go spend the $300-$500 on higher end models!!! For what you're paying, THERE IS NO BETTER JUICER FOR UNDER $150! You get a lot for your money even with the minor flaws! I wouldn't go to a car dealership and expect to get a Cadillac or Mercedes Benz with all the bells and whistles if I only had $10,000!! If you want top shelf then go buy top shelf! Cuisinart was obviously going for something middle of the road that encompassed similar features to high end models but at a more affordable price (by using more plastic parts basically). Be sure to read the entire manual to make sure you're doing everything correct. I even make sure to juice everything on the proper 1-5 setting since not everything needs to be on 5. Overall this is a great juicer that has all the features and power of a Breville but at half the cost. I would highly reccommend this if you're new to juicing. If you're looking for more of a high end, everyday juicer, then go shell out double the cost of this and be happy instead of buying this and complaining that it's not what you expected! ... show more
