Bought this for 10yo who does not have a smartphone. It looks sleek like a premium smartwatch and not too bulky. The watch has a soft silicone band. Functionality is good for basic functions and games. Now on to setup; this is important because much conflicting info in the reviews. 1. You can absolutely set this watch up for basic functions WITHOUT pairing to a smartphone or using the app. We did this. Probably some functions are limited, but we set the time date, it has 8 display styles and 8 games. The trackers and health goodies appear to function as well. Kiddo loves it. 2. Downloaded the instructions from Cubitt official before we received the watch. It said to use app HitFit Pro. As noted we did not have to do this yet. 3. The watch package and instructions that came with the watch says to use Cubitt Jr app. We did not do this either but will try if we need to. 4. After receipt of the watch I went to Cubitt official to download user manual and it has changed from use HitFit Pro to use Cubitt Jr app. Strange. We did not use an app to set up anyways. If we need to we will try the Cubitt Jr app first and then HitFit if the other does not work. They seem similar. Bottom line. We set up watch without the app. He loves it and it looks great. I recommend this for kids who aren’t ready for the smartphone but I also think this would be great for kids who have a smartphone as well. I think good for up to age 12-13. I will edit if we end up using the app or anything else changes. Very happy with this purchase.

I bought this watch for my 8 year old grandson who is always getting in trouble for not getting home from his buddies house when told. So I bought him this because he wanted something that looked like a real smartwatch like his friends have, and I wanted something that had alarms Mom could set for him. The the watch has an IP68 rating for dust and waterproofing. This means it shouldn't have a problem around debri, and should handle being submerged to around 4 ft for around 30 min. For the parents it means you shouldn't have to worry if the watch gets a little dirty or your child washes their hands. I still would take it off prior to bathing. The app: The instructions say to use an app you will NOT use. Other reviewers said they contacted customer support in regards to the app and was told to use the HitFit Pro app, so that's what I did. The directions are simple and easy to set-up for the adults, and the watch is simple enough for an 8 year old to quickly understand and navigate in no time Since this is a new purchase for my grandson, I'll have to update in the summer to on how everything is holding up when used by a very active boy on a daily basis. So far, so good. No complaints. Great purchase.

I bought this for my 9 year old daughter who wanted a smart watch. She does not have a phone but does have a tablet. I set up the watch originally with my phone. But a phone is not necessary to use it. She uses her watch to time her laps in the pool, to check her sleep quality, and to know what time it is. I have also seen her pass time when we are waiting in a line, or at an appointment, playing one of the games on it. She also enjoys customizing the screen. This watch was perfect for our needs and is still going strong almost 9 months later.

Got this for my kid thinking it would be a decent smart watch. My kid is 11 and doesn’t have a smart phone. I know, I’m a weird mom who doesn’t think he’s responsible or mature enough for one yet. I was disappointed to realize you need an app on a phone for the watch to even work. Don’t buy if your kid doesn’t have a phone. It won’t work. I tried to just use the app on my phone but it doesn’t work that way.

This watch makes for a great first smart watch for kids. Mine are ages 9-12. And knowing how kids can be I also bought screen protectors right away for them as well. (I would highly suggest with anything with screens. Especially with watches!) The watch interface was easy for my kiddos to figure out themselves how to use and how to understand it. They like to compare their steps/what level their pet is. The app on my end isn't too bad. My only complaint is there could be an option to turn the 24hr mode in alarms off and be able to use am/pm. That's just my personal preference, for me it won't affect the rating I'm giving. The app interface is easy to navigate and understand. And actually quite fun to look at. Overall not too bad really.

The function as a watch is A+, it’s sleep tracking and steps counter on the other hand leaves a lot to be desired. Frequently doesn’t sync step or sleep data (even when sleep falls between 10pm-10am and yes it will only record if you sleep during a certain time window). The games are cute, the haptics are pleasing and the touch is responsive. Would also note that the battery life seems to diminish pretty quickly, ive already noticed loss and ive barely had it a month. These are meant for kids but when my son wanted one I thought itd be fun to match, so this is an adult take on a product made for kids-
