Assembly was not very difficult. The product is so well made it takes time to secure the pieces. I can't believe how nicely everything fits together... and it's sturdy!!! True craftsmanship at a very reasonable price. Will highly recommend it to family and friends!!!!

The Good: Wood is particle board, but the piece is very sturdy (especially the bench seat). Assembly took a while, but it's pretty straight forward. Piece is flush w floor w plastic bottom and VERY easy to move. Also comes with wall mount on top for extra support. Piece is eye catching and great for small kids to sit, climb, and keep their school junk off the floor. Adding decor on top can also help give the appearance of extra height. The Not So Good: We did have a missing screw hole or two, you probably need 2 people for assembly, and the "distressed" look is pretty nonexistent. It still worked for our room/overall decor, but that was a little disappointing that it was basically all black. Storage area above and below is not massive, but for umbrellas, kid shoes or other travel knick knacks, it would work fine. Overall, it's a nice piece, and the "distressed" part came in handy when we accidentally added our own contribution to the finish. ... show more

I chose this piece over a fine furniture piece from a specialty furniture store because I really liked how it looked. When I had finally put it together, it looked every bit as I expected. It's functionality is even better than I expected. And, I have received many compliments on it. If there is a negative, it is the fact that it does require some skill to put it together. And, whatever you do, take the time to put in all of the panel screws. You will be tempted to allow the back panel to float and skip putting in the 20+ screws. This will compromise the sturdiness of the frame. To this end, the screw holes are not predrilled. They are marked but it will be your screwdriver technique that will allow for the hole to tap and the screw to go in straight. Patience will pay off with this piece. Highly reccomended. ... show more

Very SOLID product. One person put together in 1.5 hours. It looks beautiful and it is not cheap material. Very pleased. Do measure because we understood it was 60" tall but most people leaving reviews expected it to be taller. I am happy with the height of it since it was purchased to keep my childrens items put away after school. Very very pleased. The only thing I would say is that they included a magnet for the bottom bench but no instructions to install it. Would be nice to know where the magnet goes. Highly recommend this beautiful prodcut and the ease it was to put together. Oh, Amazon initially sent a white one, even though I ordered a black one. They picked it up two days later and this was delivered properly 3 days later. Very pleased with Amazon and their service and products. Expecially this one. ... show more

POSITIVES: Great, solid quality! The back panels are good quality and reinforced. Very thoughtful assembly instructions with an impressive parts tray and even extra parts. NEGATIVES: The packaging came with A LOT of Styrofoam blocks which cling to everything. Unpack the box outside if possible. We now have two large garbage bags of non-recyclable Styrofoam to dump somewhere. ASSEMBLE TIPS: The instructions say only screwdriver is needed, but a power drill (on the lowest setting) makes assemble much faster especially for the 36 screws on the back panels. There is an easy-to-miss instruction: ###DO NOT TIGHTEN THE SHOE CABINET'S SIDE PANEL BOLTS UNTIL THE DOOR IS INSTALLED.### The bolts are difficult to get reach so untightening them can be difficult. ... show more

This is a beautiful piece and looks so great in our entry! While i was laying out all the pieces to begin building this unit I discovered that I was missing a part and that another part had a small amount of damage. There is a toll free number to call on the instruction sheet if you run into issues. Wow!! This company (Crossley) has incredible customer service! When I called the number I was was treated respectfully and kindly by the representative, and my replacement parts showed up on my doorstep so quickly that it's almost illogical! Thank you! In general we are happy with the coat rack, however we were not happy with the way it was packaged. Upon opening it we found one side panel that had been damaged, resulting in serious splinters. We will have to sand it and repaint it.
