    • Best snorkel mask I have ever tried.

Great quality mask and snorkel. The mask: The lens is tempered glass which, compared to poly lenses, gives me a much clearer view and I don't have to worry about scratches so much. These seem to let in a LOT more light than any other mask I've ever used, which is great for low visibility areas, but a little annoying near the surface as my eyes are very sensitive to light, I usually prefer a tinted lens on sunny days. The side lenses are crystal clear too and the silicon seem between the glass is the highest quality glass seem I have ever seen. These side lenses distort the direction of the side view. Where something appears to be 90 degrees to the side, is actually more like 135 degrees. I have to get use to this, but once I do, I think I will like it as you can basically have a 270 degree field of view with 3 blind spots: one directly behind you from 135 to 225 degrees and one on either side from 90 to 120 degrees and 240 to 270 degrees respectively. This leaves a total of 210 degrees of viewing. The mask fits great on my face. I usually have trouble my nose bridge, but these do not bother me. The rubber is very soft and fits so well, I do not have to wear them tightly. They seal themselves to my face. While they do not have a built-in purge, they don't need one. It is so easy to purge this mask and adjust it underwater, you render any purge valve useless. The snorkel: I like to dive and surface without having to surface for air. I blow out most of the air from my lungs before I come up which makes it difficult to clear traditional snorkels. This snorkel prevents water from entering the snorkel while under water. A little still gets in but I can inhale as soon as I surface with just a little water gurgling in my mouth; not so much that it gets into my throat, though. Sometimes when I surface, there is not water at all. The bite is super soft and my jaw seems to not get tired after a long day of diving. I have not scuba dived with this mask yet, so I can only speculate that the soft material may collapse at depth, causing some discomfort, but I have no reason to believe it would fail. If I were to take it beyond 18 meters, I might bring a spare with a stiffer material, but I think I would be ok without one. ... show more

I had this same mask for several years and really enjoyed it. On a recent vacation, it went missing and i decided to buy it again. It takes up a little more room in my suitcase/bag compared to a low profile mask, but i think the slight extra size is fine. The real benefit to masks like this is the 2 small side windows which really do increase your field of view. This is the reason to buy this mask, or any 3 window mask. You just see more with a wider field of view. I have used this mask for both snorkeling and diving and its comfortable and performs well at the surface and at depth. Just like last time, i paid more to get the mask with a clear frame as i like that look, but the same mask is cheaper if you are ok with a color frame. Any mask has the potential to fog up, so spending time to get the mask prepared BEFORE your trip is important. There are plenty of videos on the topic, but at minimum, a few rounds of rubbing all of the inside of the glass with white toothpaste in essential. I usually do a burn with a lighter on a new mask, then toothpaste rub and repeat this 3-4 times while at home. Then toothpaste before each trip. I also bring a small spray bottle (approx 3 inch) with a few squirts of Dawn dishwash in it and then fill it with water. I spray on the inside glass right before i get in the ocean. Give the mask a quick rinse before you put it on and you should be good to go. ... show more

    • Worked great for tropical AND cold water snorkeling and scuba diving
I'm loving my mask and snorkel. I bought them for a trip to Mexico, on which I used it for my entire scuba certification course and 6 scuba dives, as well as almost daily snorkeling in the ocean and in cenotes. When I came home I had the diving bug, and used them for another scuba dive and a free dive (snorkeling) in colder and rougher Northern California waters. They've held up and treated me well for all of it. The fit of the mask is great, it sealed really well yet was very easy to clear when I needed to for my scuba certification course. The most water that ever got in was a tiny bit around the nose. I used defog solution a few times, baby shampoo a couple, but mostly just spit and rinsed with water to keep it from fogging up and it didn't fog up at all. The snorkel was very comfortable and never hurt my mouth, super flexible, and easy to clip on and off the mask as well as adjusted easily to comfortably reach your mouth. When you swim down and the snorkel is completely submerged, the dry snorkel makes it almost impossible to get water in it. However, I did get a little water in the snorkel when I was in the rougher water in Cali. That's going to happen with just about any snorkel when you have bigger waves, and the snorkel was very easy to clear the water while keeping your face underwater by simply blowing out, hard. Perfect for all of my needs but I'm not certain that it would fit as well on someone with a larger face or larger nose. Also, I would recommend buying a neoprene mask strap cover as well for comfort (no hair pulling) and ease of taking on and off. ... show more
