Make a game out of it! Chore sticks are easy to customize, and a first grader can do or help with almost all the tasks. You could write tasks on a piece of paper, but it's nice to have this list of suggestions and some packaging that makes it look like it belongs on the game shelf.

My kids ask to pick their chores in the evenings and have fun with it. They also enjoyed adding some “silly” chores of their own so it’s not always hard work

We use these chore sticks to assign responsibilities to each person in our family. Having the chores pre-listed makes it easy to identify what work needs to be completed. We distribute the sticks to each person, and the stick is returned once the chore is completed. Then, we total the sticks each person hands back in and provide allowance for the chores once we have inspected the job. This is a fun and easy way to organize chores. However, these could be easily made at home for less money. We opted to add sticks to the pack based on specialized chores we do in our home. You can also mark the reward for completing the chore on the back of the stick if that works for your family.

I like and don’t like these. On one hand, it’s a great idea and it keeps kids engaged... and they ask to get a new job for the day by pulling out a stick. On the other hand, the printing on the sticks are very low quality and either very faded or almost gone. I wish the printing was more consistent. I can’t find an equivalent so these will have to do, but the printing is such poor quality.

If your kids are anything like my kids and don’t enjoy doing jobs this is the perfect thing for you and your family. My kids enjoying pulling sticks and making a game of this product. They never know what the stick will say and you can also create some of your own with the blank sticks. I would recommend this if your children don’t enjoy cleaning up around the house and helping out cause it’s an easy and fun way to clean while making a game out of it. What kid does not like making a game out of things..?

My 7 kids really enjoy picking their chores this way. I’m going to make a felt chart with pockets for “to do” and “done” pockets for the kids to keep track of them without risking misplacing them. I also got tokens for them to earn when they do their chores that they can use to buy things from a prize store. It’s working pretty well so far! 😊
