I have recently switched from using expensive products (CLARINS, or PREVAGE system or Peter Thomas Roth) products...to the Korean skincare routine. The expensive products were not fixing my skin issues... Even though i took Accutane back in the day which fixed my really bad acne, since then I still dealt with break outs, combo skin, bad texture because of moderate acne scarring, redness, and large pores on my nose. I would NEVER leave my house with out makeup on period.... I have a few Korean and Chinese friends and I started asking about how they manage their perfect looking skin. Lo and Behold, the Korean Skincare Routine enters my life. You can get things just as good a quality for half the price out of Korean skincare lines IMO...the system may seem like a lot of work but once you get the routine it really isn't so bad. Why should we take a moment to pamper ourselves? Prior to using this system even with the expensive products i was previously using i was embarrassed of my skin. Now, if I want to the only makeup i really need to do to quickly get out the door is maybe eyebrows and some mascara... My skin has completely turned around. So much so that my boyfriend has had me start using the products on him and a friend asked me to send her the following routine information. Since my friend has been using the korean routine products (with some modification for her aging skin as she is 50) ....She is so impressed as well. So here is the routine i use for others who have had similar issues...I hope it helps you as it has me.....I do occasionally get like one small pimple around my nose but it goes away in a day and stays so small and NEXCARE acne patches can get rid of it ASAP if you need it they are AMAZING!!!! 1st OIL CLENASING- Banila co Clean It Zero Radiance, 100 ml, 1.2 Ounce to remove makeup 2nd SOAP CLEANSING- CeraVe Foaming Facial Cleanser, 12 Ounce ... EXFOLIANT (2-3 times a week) Skinfood rice exfoliator (LOOOVE THIS STUFF) or clarisonic with faoming cleanser TONER - 100% organic rose water spray/ or / ( if feel like i might be getting break out) combine in t-zone or separately use Clarins toning lotion for combo skin ESSENCE- Cosrx Galactomyces 95 Whitening Power Essence 100ml for brightening AMPOULE- mizon snail repair (PM) SERUM- Timeless Skin Care 20% Vitamin C Plus E Ferulic Acid Serum, 1 oz (vit c is photo-sensitive ...so sun on it no good if you use this during the day wear sun screen) (AM) SERUM- I need to find a new one but was using CLARINS double serum and will probably be replacing with Missha Time Revolution Night Repair Science Activator Ampoule EYE CREAM - I switch between a few...Clarins eye gel, a hibiscus rose Eye Cream sold on amazon, and just ran out of prevage eye cream..when i am out of all of this i will be purchaing the following Innisfree Orchid Eye Cream 30ml MOISTURIZER AM & PM- Innisfree Bija Trouble Lotion 100ml PM EXTRA MOISTURE instead of innisfree i will occasionally use LANEIGE renewal water sleeping mask DAILY SUNSCREEN - was left in the mailbox.Biore Sarasara UV Aqua Rich Watery Essence Sunscreen SPF50+ PA++++ 50g / Scent of roses (2015 Summer Limited Bag) IF YOU NEED A QUICK BLEMISH TREATMENT- Nexcare Acne Absorbing Cover and maybe a little Tea Tree oil spot treament if you don't want to wear a patch if you are heading out (ART)

I've always had mild acne since teenage years with 1-3 new small whitehead pimples per week. My first acne treatment was the famous acne.org regimen of using benzoyl peroxide in the morning and night with Clean & Clear salicylic acid wash and have the stained pillowcases to prove it. I eventually moved on to benzoyl peroxide with Cetaphil wash and lotion which helped and when I got into western skincare forums I learned about actives and thought that I needed to start religiously using salicylic acid to cure my acne. I ended up with the first cystic acne in my life but I eventually recovered from that by getting on Retin-A and changing my regimen to have a better moisturizer (CeraVe cream). Even after using Retin-A, I still was getting 1-2 new pimples a week very regularly, but I was content with that and too paranoid to add anything new. I have to admit, I was very skeptical of Korean skincare because of all the exoticism surrounding multi-step Korean routines while western skincare has so much focus on "actives" like AHA, BHA, retinol, etc. There are routines on SkincareAddiction that have so much chemical exfoliation that you could probably melt your skin off if you dived right into it. I kind of just bought the Cosrx Whitening Power Essence because Asian skincare enthusiasts have so much hype around SK-II and I saw how ludicrously expensive that was and heard this was a dupe. I never really expected any results from it and I had it sitting around on my countertop and used it a couple times per week for around a year until I just decided to use it every day early December because I was trying to get rid of it after not seeing results. Unexpectedly, I noticed that I stopped having regular acne once I started using this every day. In fact, I haven't gotten any new acne at all since December 2017 except when I take a red eye flight and sleep badly (which results in having 1-2 pimples the day right after the flight). I suspect that this probably has something to do with the extra hydration that this essence provides compared to just putting on CeraVe and calling it a day. Evidently, my skin was just too dry even though I was using a moisturizer. I can't that my skin has been getting any whiter and I don't really care. But I'm very happy with the unexpected results that the essence has given me for acne. Korean skincare certainly exceeded my expectations and really contrasts with western skincare through its focus on hydration.

I got this essence because it is the dupe of SK-II with a very beautiful price. I love this essence because it is so hydrating and you only need a little drop to cover your whole face. I like it better than SK-II.
