  • Fantastic sound quality after running ique software. Surprisingly comfortable and easy to use.
Color: Carbon
Ok, I read many other reviews on this headset and was surprised to see so many people saying the sound quality is not good, and that the headset is uncomfortable. I completely disagree. I’ve been wearing them for 6 hours straight and my ears/head are not sore. They are light and have fabric EarPads. The ear pads are one of my favorite parts, they are soft, conform to my head nicely and block out a lot of background noise even with the noise canceling off. Out of the box, the audio quality was a bit unimpressive. But where this headset shines is truly within the software in icue app. I am using them with a pc and already had the icue app. The app immediately recognized the headset and connected to them. I updated the firmware and went through the setup for corsairs “soundID personalization” which takes about 5 minutes. It automatically sets an eq profile based on your hearing profile and adjusts each speaker individually to give you the best listening experience for your taste. It transformed the sound quality into something amazing. Seriously.. amazing. I am impressed. After playing a few hours in game and watching a movie I was even more impressed. It feels like I’m sitting in a theater. This headset supports Dolby atmos and sounds absolutely incredible. I also spent some time on discord with my brother and before I could tell him I got a new headset he had already made a comment about how clear my voice was coming through. Microphone works well. The sound in game was incredible. I Highly recommend spending the time to set up the soundID profile and downloading Dolby atmos. Both are super easy to do and took me almost no effort.. another cool feature is that while you have it connected to your pc, you can also connect your phone and it will play overlapping audio from both devices at the same time. Super cool. my previous experience with headsets that need software was with razer synapse and I was so frustrated with their software I swore that I would never buy another headset that needed software. I was pleased to find that you don’t have to have the software but i do highly recommend it. I was also a bit nervous about spending this much money on a headset because I was so disappointed with my high end razer headset. I feel this headset is worth the money and I finally feel like I got what I payed for. It is good quality and well made. I will update after I’ve used them for a few weeks. *** after using this headset for several months now I am still in love with it. They still work flawlessly with my system and connect seamlessly. The noise canceling is honestly pretty impressive. The battery life is amazing and the range on the wireless is fantastic. I can walk downstairs and into my kitchen without them disconnecting at all. ... show more

  • Broken, non-functional - Great microphone, good audio, good ANC. Unacceptable durability.
Color: Carbon
This review is for the Corsair Virtuoso MAX. PLEASE READ THE UPDATE TO THIS REVIEW BELOW! They no longer work after just two months! These headphones were used in comparison to the Asus ROG Delta II at the time of writing this review, you may check out the other review through my profile. The Corsair Virtuoso MAX have decent audio but not great. With or without Active Noise Cancellation (ANC), the audio was just good enough, at default equalization. The treble was soft and not the best, & the bass was loud & uncomfortable even at lower volumes. However, the Active Noise Cancellation makes up for the very mild loss in audio quality, with no doubt. In the tests done with these headphones, it quiets outside noise well enough but not completely, & the audio comes through clear & understandable. You can adjust your treble & bass through Corsair software to your needs. The microphone was put through several different VoIP applications, including feedback. It is loud & quite clear, not muffled at all. It also seemingly comes with it's own noise cancellation as it blocks out outside distractions even better than the audio portion of the headset could. Users listening to this microphone described it as being perfect & way better than an Razer Kraken 7.1 Surround Sound's microphone & the mentioned Asus headphones above. These Corsair headphones also can be used with other devices except for 3.5mm. Was not able to test USB-C to 3.5mm conversion possibility nor USB-C to USB-C possibility. In conclusion, the headphones are compatible with a multitude of modern devices through 2.4Ghz with computers, & Bluetooth with mobile & console. However USB-C & 3.5mm is uncertain in this review. The audio is acceptable with mildly uncomfortable bass at default equalizer, but becomes comfortable when the volume is lowered at the slight cost of audible treble. The microphone is way better than expected, especially in terminology of gaming headphones as most gaming headphones have subpar microphones, but this one does not as the microphone with the Corsair Virtuoso MAX sounds pretty great. The Active Noise Cancellation is a huge bonus. And these headphones are mostly made of metal, with hints of other materials, which makes them 'seemingly' durable. The verdict is, buy these headphones in mind that you are getting good audio, good Active Noise Cancellation, a great microphone, & good device compatibility, & 'possibly' great durability. Update 5/16/2025: Just about two months of ownership & the wrapping to the left headphone cushion is already falling off. Four stars removed. Durability is now under question compared to the original impression. In this day & age, a headset as expensive as this should not be falling apart so easily so soon, absolutely unacceptable. Update 5/20/2025: I turned the headphones off after just using them, took a few minute break, tried to turn them back on; nothing. Tried to charge them, tried pressing all the buttons & knobs, tried to access them in iCUE, & nothing. They are just dead, broken, & non-functional after two months. Update 6/15/2025: Still the same issue as on 5/20/2025. Update 7/08/2025: I have tried several other brands of headsets after the Corsair Virtuoso MAX, & I am not kidding, I wish this was the headset I could have kept. It is such a shame it did not work out as no other brand I tried before nor after has good enough audio & microphone quality with a bonus of optional Active Noise Cancellation. If only the product quality were there, the Corsair Virtuoso MAX is squandered potential. April 4th, 2026: of all the headphones I have tried, the Virtuoso MAX were better except for the terrible product quality. Wish this was not the case. ... show more

  • Great Headset for the Price, But Audio Can Be Inconsistent
Color: Carbon
I’ve been using the Corsair Virtuoso MAX Wireless for a bit now, and overall it’s a solid headset—especially for the price. The build quality feels premium, the comfort is great for long sessions, and features like Dolby Atmos and active noise cancelling absolutely pull their weight. That said, the audio performance isn’t always as strong as the specs suggest. In some apps and certain games, the sound can feel a bit muted or lacking punch, almost like the headset isn’t fully waking up. Other titles sound fantastic, so the inconsistency stands out even more. Still, when it works, it really works, and the wireless versatility plus the battery life make this a great value. Just be aware that depending on what you’re playing or listening to, the audio may vary. ... show more

  • Audio Quality is Awful :(
Color: Carbon
Product: Virtuoso Max Pros: 1) Features - This thing is loaded with features that may or may not be helpful to some people (5 out of 5) 2) Mic Quality - The Mic sounds just as good, if not better than my Logitech G Pro X headset (5 out of 5) 3) Icue integration - If you already have a Corsair Eco System, this thing seems to work great with ICUE (5 out of 5) 4) Build Quality - With it's aluminum frame, I feel like the build quality is exceptional (5 out of 5) 5) Connectivity - This thing has really good wireless range (5 out of 5) 6) Comes with a nice carrying case (4 out of 5) 7) RGB is bright and colorful (5 out of 5) 8) There are 2 programmable volume wheels for various things (5 out of 5) 9) Made for larger heads - This is a huge plus for a big guy like myself. (6 out of 5) Cons: 1) Audio quality - Quite frankly, it's terrible on thing. The driver's being heavy on bass helps slightly but the audio quality overall is NOT great. If you are an audiophile of any kind, DO NOT buy these or at least don't expect to use these for music. I've definitely heard worse sounding audio but it's definitely not great. (2.75 out of 5) 2) Comfort quality could be better. I wouldn't say that it's not bad necessarily but it's definitely not good either. (3 out of 5) Overall Opinion: I bought these to talk to my friends on Discord and this product works well for that specific purpose. I would however have liked this product better if the audio quality was better. $250 for a headset that has (what I would call) sub par audio is a bit ridiculous to me. I'm not going to return them because I do like some of the features that they have plus they work well with the Corsair ecosystem I have going in my PC. Moral of the story, you're paying top dollar for features in this product you'll probably never use when audio quality should have been the main focus. Knowing what I know now, I would've looked around at other products as I can't say that $250 is a good value here. It's actually quite terrible. If you're still interested in this product, I'd honestly wait for a sale or a V2 of this product. ... show more

Color: Carbon
I love this headphones however the microphone could be better . The are very comfortable and the sound is amazing for gaming you hear Every Thing!! Every foot step and every environment sound while playing games . Tons of customization with lighting RGB . These headphones can even adjust to your personal hearing. In case one of ears is sensitive to noise these headphones have a feature that can actually test your hearing. One major flaw of these headphones is the main support on top that sets on top of your head . The top is plastic and will break if overstretched to fit a large head . I have a big head and I eventually snapped the top part just taking them off my head. So be gentle with them when taking them off or on . They last long on the battery and while hearing music as well . Best on pc ... show more

  • The Corset of Corsair. Looks Great... but uncomfortable is an understatement.
Color: Silver
As a big fan of Corsair products, I am disappointed with these Corsair Virtuoso MAX even though there are many positives. I actually own a pair of the older Virtuoso's and I really liked them a lot, so I had high hopes for this newer more expensive more premium looking headset. I got these 6 months ago now so it is time I reviewed them. Firstly the positives - They arrive in a well protected premium looking case, so they can be safely transported which is nice. You get them out and they immediately look really nice. The outside of the cups are aluminium or something and feel well crafted and look amazing. The headband is well padded with a breathable material that probably wont wear like the old RGB Virtuoso which had a PU leather that would peel off eventually. The microphone is detachable and slots in and out firmly so it shouldn't fall out after the first 5 times. It is also braided and has the handy dandy mute button on it. The whole headset feels much lighter than the older ones, which was one of my big gripes before, so that is a big plus. The RGB is subtle, not over the top, and customizable in ICUE (the Corsair software that I will mention later) It has rotatable cups to control volume independently and buttons to switch between dongle and USB connectivity, as well as 'off', which the old ones didn't have. There is also a button to switch between some 'equaliser presets' so you can change how things sound depending on what you are doing at a push of a button. I only used them for music and gaming, each have a presets that work well. So overall lots of nice features. The big one is sound quality though, and frankly, I am no expert, I wouldn't even say I am an audiophile but I think I have a good ear, I love music it means a lot to me all the same. I do a lot of gaming too but mostly racing, not FPS so don't ask me if I can hear footsteps of a one legged Goose from 1000 yards away, however the surround sound seems perfectly accurate to me. So I tried a number of brands including Pioneer, Audio Technica, and Sennheiser. And these Corsairs are on par with the best for overall sound quality in my opinion. The quality is perfectly good for my untrained ears, but then so were the older Virtuoso's I thought. Battery life is 9/10. They last long enough for an all day gaming session, you can run 12 hours solid, maybe more but I havn't pushed them beyond that in one go. I could swear the old ones lasted longer, though I don't have solid data but it seems that way, however these are also much lighter, and they only ever died once when I used them 3 times in a row without charging, however it does let you know and you can always switch to USB. Microphone quality seems perfectly good too. I doubt a headset mounted mic could ever rival a good studio mic, I have a Hyper X Quadcast S for streaming that is obviously more designed for that purpose, but for discord and gaming with friends, the Virtuoso MAX is as good as it needs to be. Now for the negatives - there aren't many, but they are really frustrating and its why I am writing this review at all. COMFORT! The Corsair Virtuoso MAX is the least comfortable headset I have EVER worn short of 90's sets that used to catch in your hair. I am sorry Corsair but WTH? For $330 that I paid, I would expect FAR better. First of all, the earcups, a nice premium breathable material sure... but it isn't very soft and the padding thickness is non existent! It is like a chunk of rough plastic sticking into my skull right behind my ear. I have an average head and ear size. It ain't me. 'It's fine' I thought, the old Virtuoso's you can buy aftermarket earcups, which I did. But for THESE? nope. They don't even exist. And from what I can tell they never will because of some weird construction you did. I hope I am wrong, because I am stuck with a very expensive, otherwise great headset I just won't use. I cannot find a way around it with this headset, they feel awful to wear even for a short time. I have had to switch back to my ATH-M50xBT2's (stupid name I know) from Audio Technica, that are lovely and comfortable with just as good sound but no mic, oh well, I will just use my hyper X mic and suffer having less mobility. Also on the comfort issue, the headband sits too far forward to be able to adjust the earcups around to reduce how uncomfortable they are. Being able to adjust the angle forward or back would be a game changer, noone else even offers that, but this headset NEEDS it. Finally, we have ICUE.... the way the UI works for ICUE is terrible it so unintuitive. That software needs a MASSIVE overhaul, we need to be able to make adjustments and presets in a much more simple, easily save-able way. Also would be nice if Corsair software (including now Fanatec) was more compatible with Linux as I think Windows is about to take a massive nose-dive but that is a separate issue. It pains me to not be able to recommend this headset. I love Corsair products, I love my Scimitar mouse, my K55 Keyboard, my RAM, my old case, I have a Fanatec wheel too, and my old RGB Virtuoso headset was the best headset I have had even though it was heavy and the headband fell to bits after 6 years. I am begging you Corsair, please give us after market earcups, else this headset is either going in the dustbin, or being an expensive paperweight. 1 star removed for comfort, the other because that means I cant even use them, so I feel like I wasted my money. I wish I had refunded them immediately but I didnt because I was also testing out some Pioneers at the time. Very disappointed. ... show more

  • Build quality is poor for the price.
Color: Carbon
Edit to add: I bought these relatively pricey headphones on January 18, 2025, It's March 23, 2025 and just now something in the headband snapped and I have as sagging headband. They're still usable but I would have expected a more durable product at this price point. The headband snapped as I was picking them up to put them on, it barely flexed and I heard the snap. I'm not happy. Background: I upgraded from a pair of Alienware AW510H 510H Wired 7.1 Gaming Headset USB, which retailed for around $99.99. So that gives you some idea what I'm comparing these to. My previous headphones never impressed me, and the sound was always subpar. Experience: When I got these and first loaded the ICUE app, I thought I had made a mistake. I thought the UI was bad. It took me about 15-20 minutes to get comfortable with it, but by the end of the day, I kind of sort of liked it. Pros: The headphones are not as bulky as my old wired Alienware headphones. They fit quite comfortably on my extra large head (24.75") The microphone sounds great. The sound quality when playing music is fantastic. They feel like they are of much higher quality than what I had before. At least 3x better, so worth it. Battery life is great, Fully charged they'll last, and if you need to you can charge them while wearing them by just using the USB charger. Cons: Options for replacement earpads is limited due to the different mounting system. So if you want different colors, or maybe thicker options, you're not going to find them on the market. Conclusion: Overall, I'm very much impressed with these headphones. They have significantly better sound quality and build compared to my previous ones. What can I say? I think it was worth it. ... show more

  • Perfect headset for gaming
Color: Carbon
I am extremely pleased with the Virtuoso Max, I am no audiophile, I don't know how a headset is "supposed" to sound I watched a bunch of reviews online and I ended up more confused than when I started looking. I finally decided for a Corsair product because I own a bunch of other corsair devices and having all centralized in a single software suite (Corsair's Icue) made sense for me. I had my share of problems with Icue over the years but I got to know it pretty well and I feel comfortable using it. I bought this headset for gaming and it delivers, it has the 5 features I needed: 1.- Beautiful clean sound, no crackling or any kind of foreign noise, no distractions. 2.- Active noise cancelation, it eliminates 95% of the noise produced by my rig's 10 fans and vacuum cleaner GPU, sitting next to me. I consider this a blessing 3.- I can be gaming connected wirelessly through the 2.4ghz dongle and simultaneously be connected to my phone via Bluetooth and take phone calls without interrupting my gaming session. You can control the sound volume for each task independently. 4.- Long battery life. 5.- Comfortable enough to use for hours. I know some people complain about weight or earpads hardness, but I cant say its a issue to me. Overall I am very happy with my purchase, zero regrets. The Virtuoso Max delivers everything I need. ... show more
