  • A Praiseworthy Panacea for Foul-Smelling Water
Size: 40-89 Gallon Tank
In this tale of aqueous affliction, I find myself lamenting the dire state of my well water's quality. Alas, its poor constitution is of such an odious nature that I was left with no choice but to embark on a mission to remedy this misfortune. The installation of both an iron filter and a water softener, with the hope of restoring my water's purity, proved to be an expedient step, yet still, the hot water emanating from my taps, drawing from one of my trusty water heaters, was not spared from a most unpleasant and disconcerting odor akin to that of sulfur. The distressing odor that permeated my abode was truly a vexation to my senses, and it spurred me on to undertake further research and seek solace in the words of wise experts and knowledgeable practitioners. It was during this arduous quest for relief that the celestial light of providence shone upon me, revealing a prodigious and venerable solution: the "Corro-Protec Powered Anode Rod." With newfound hope in my heart, I proceeded to heed the counsel of those well-versed in the mystic arts of water heater maintenance, bravely opting to remove the erstwhile employed magnesium sacrificial anodes from my water heater. In their stead, I embraced the Corro-Protec Powered Anode Rod, a marvel of engineering designed to quell the sinister manifestations of sulfur-scented waters. With bated breath and an anxious heart, I awaited the outcome of this alchemical intervention. Lo and behold, within a mere day or two, the noxious fumes of sulfur did gradually vanish, like a dissipating fog under the warm rays of the sun. A euphoric sense of relief washed over me, for I could finally breathe freely without the irksome stench assailing my senses. The Corro-Protec Powered Anode Rod had proven its mettle, earning my admiration and respect as an outstanding and remarkably cost-effective solution to the enigmatic malady of sulfur-saturated hot water. This modern marvel, hailing from the realm of water heater enchantments, had succeeded where others faltered, casting out the malevolent specter of sulfuric scents from my once-tainted water supply. Thus, with gratitude in my heart, I doth sing praises to this celestial savior of my domestic tranquility. Verily, the Corro-Protec Powered Anode Rod stands as a shining beacon of hope for all those afflicted with the vexation of sulfur-smelling hot water, guiding them towards the revitalizing waters of clarity and purity. ... show more

  • AMAZING !!!
Size: 40-89 Gallon Tank
This thing is Crazy Incredible ! Have had the stinky, rotten egg smelling water since we moved in the house end of 2018. Couldn't figure it out & tried everything, very frustrating. Only hot water stunk so knew it had to be tied to the water heater. Changed the old anode rod out with a new one from big box store, no change, took anode rod out, nope, did the hydrogen peroxide thing, no cigars. Figured I was going to have to get a potassium permanganate tank for $$$, didn't know what else to do then I came across this gem. Our kids would come & visit and complain constantly about the stench, understandably... Installed this yesterday morning, pretty simple since I changed old anode rod a yr ago & didn't tighten other one as tight. Within 20 minutes, there was a HUGE difference ! Thought I was going crazy, then my wife started with the "OMG, this is Incredible" !! A day later, and no smell at all !. Best thing ever ! Biggest thing Ive noticed is when showering or washing my hands, I can actually smell the soap & shampoo now, before it was just rotten eggs. Thank you, Thank you, Thank you !! If you have any questions & I can be of help, shoot me question and I'll do my best to answer. Peace out & God Bless ... show more

  • Excellent Product and Excellent Customer Service
Size: 40-89 Gallon Tank
The powered anode is well-built and well packaged and the documentation is excellent. The company's website has a wealth of information on Cathodic Protection. I was very impressed by the responsiveness of customer service. They repeatedly responded to my questions, even on Saturday and Sunday. This anode rod implements "Impressed Current Cathodic Protection (ICCP)". This is a well-understood process that is used in many fields, including large pipelines, to protect steel from corrosion. I wish every water heater manufacturer would include one of these in their product instead of the sacrificial anodes they provide. Most people install these because they start smelling hydrogen Sulfide odor (rotten eggs) in their hot water. However, it serves an even more important function in extending the life of the steel tank. In addition, getting rid of the sacrificial rod will reduce or eliminate the odor, and the electrical current will kill most of the Sulfate-Reducing bacteria present in most water supplies. I have some important advice for anyone wanting to install this powered anode. It is really easy to install. It took me about 15 minutes. Removing the old rod is a different story! People who say that it is hard to remove the old rod are not exaggerating. I spent a week trying! I started with a breaker bar with no success. I then added a 24" cheater pipe without success either. Due to space restrictions, I could not use a longer cheater pipe. I then tried a 19V 3/8 " impact wrench. I drained two fully charged batteries and the anode would not budge. I finally obtained a 7.5 amp corded 1/2" impact wrench (with 1-1/16" impact socket). That wrench provided over 400 Ib-ft torque. It took 5 seconds to remove the old rod after I spent a week trying the other methods. My water heater is Rheem. I contacted their customer service and they did confirm that these rods are tightened at very high torque in the factory (I don't know why) If you still decide to use the manual method, make sure that one person would hold the socket down as you try to turn the breaker bar to prevent the socket from slipping. If the socket slips, the edges of the hex nut will be rounded (see the picture). If you round them up too much, even a powerful impact wrench will not help and you will be stuck with the old rod. I immediately stopped when saw the edges were starting to be rounded. In my installation pictures, you can see the magnesium rod that I removed and the powered anode that I installed. Notice that I also attached a water leak detector to warn me if there is any leak. I always do that as a precaution when I do plumbing work. ... show more
