  • Shipped as advertised. Fast, excellent condition.
I am extremely pleased with both the item, Portable USB rechargeable soldering pen and the quick delivery. I ordered on Thursday and soldered on Saturday. This device heats up fast! I can keep it on until I finish or have it shut down after 5 minutes of non use, and conserve battery life. I will buy from this vendor again as soon as my need arises. ... show more

  • Great for "Soldering" over 420 degrees
My wife owns a "soldering" iron and we both use it. However, she has a problem returning the "soldering" iron to a place where I can find it after she uses it. Finally, I got fed up looking for the iron whenever I want to do some "soldering" and bought one of these. It came with a lot of soldering tips and soldering supplies, I wont be using. I'm happy to report that it arrived fully functional and works better than my wife's "soldering" iron. It seems to heat up the "solder" to a higher temperature and it creates more "solder" vapor. I can't speak to the longevity of this "soldering" iron but, the design looks very similar to my wife's and we've been "soldering" with that one for years. I'm positive this reaches over 420 degrees easily. ... show more

  • Works
A decent soldering iron, but it's much better at what you're actually buying it for. 510 cartridges fit well. I ran mine through the washing machine on accident and it still works fine. I felt a good review was in order after that.

  • product is ok
the product did not reach my expectations as it takes a significant amount of time in order for it to heat up. overall i would recommend a more expsvive and outlet run battery instead of portable battery operated ones.

  • Very impressed with the soldering iron
Never expected a cordless soldering iron to work as well as this one. I bought this for my diy guitar project and I have used the automatic mode each time it's very easy to use also quick to heat up to get soldering done

  • Good product idea but needs improvement
It does work and yes you can use this soldering iron without a cord however it does not get hot enough to melt the solder near the tip of the iron and it was missing soldering wire + sponge in package, I may have gotten a iron that had something wrong with it but overall I do not see much use most of the time when needing to actually solder. Great idea for potential future variations though, I can see a potential version 2 or 3 really being great. This is really only good if you need to solder something small on the go and need to be able to use it as a last resort. ... show more

  • Not hot enough except for the smallest jobs.
Battery powered soldering irons are still a bit new to the market. When I saw this one for sale, I figured I'd give it a try. It comes in a convenient case, has a prop, a sponge, a tube of solder, and an empty tube which I assumed was for flux, but some other reviewers suggest that this device may have an alternate use. Apparently, I was one of the few who purchased this item for actual soldering. Regardless, the tube is useful for storing spare soldering tips, connector pins, or whatever else you see fit. Charging is easy with the USB-C port, cable included. I put it on my USB power meter, and it consumed about 600 mAH to charge the battery from a depleted state. I got something around 20-30 minutes of "on" time from a charged battery. You have to press the button 5 times to wake it up, so it's not likely to get accidentally turned on. The default mode is to hold the button for heat, and release to stop, but if you triple-click the button, it will stay on for 5 minutes or until you press the button to cancel the heat. Unfortunately, I doubt I'll be using this for much. It just doesn't have enough heat capacity. It's hot enough to melt solder, but the instant I touch it to metal, the solder solidifies. I tried unsoldering some components from a computer power supply circuit board, and it took a very long time to get things heated up enough, and it still required a lot of pulling. I never could get it hot enough to remove the wires from a power connector (about 16 or 18 AWG on a short metal lug), and ended up clipping the wire instead. Later, I tried removing some resistors and such from the board. Again, it didn't heat up much. One common trick is to add new solder to a joint before desoldering, but I couldn't even get that to work well. It took about a minute of heating (iron was already preheated) to get the leads hot enough to loosen up even a little. The tip is just too small and the temperature too low to sustain any useful soldering. It might be good enough for soldering small wires together. I tried soldering a new tiny resistor on a PCB, but that's about the time the battery ran out on me. I had used a full charge and managed to desolder 4 or 5 points. You're more likely to slowly cook a part if you're dealing with anything sensitive. I just can't recommend this product. That's a shame, because otherwise it's a handy kit in a nice case. I do think there are some good battery-powered pocket irons out there - this just isn't one of them. If they beefed it up just a little, that would change the whole experience. ... show more

  • Good kit, heats fast, versatile battery module.
I always thought battery powered soldering irons were kind of a gimmick, but it's way more practical than I expected. You really don't have to wait long before it's ready to solder, maybe 5-10 seconds from cold, and then maybe a second or two between joints once you're working. I'm probably going to get a second one to keep in my "extended tour" off-roading kit. I already have solder-sleeves, but this is way more useful in confined spaces. Also, I should mention that the utility is enhanced by the fact that this is just a "510 thread" battery, so it's useable for any of those accessories as well. ... show more
