I have a very similar mattress already, so I have experience with this kind of mattress. Instead of a separate foundation (box springs) and mattress, you get both in a single package. The bedroom where it is going is still being remodeled. I'm not unpacking it until I can put it where it is going, so no pictures for now. It arrives very compressed in an airtight wrapping. It takes a day or two for the mattress to return fully to its original size. When it is fully expanded, is is really comfortable. What a great idea! It is made to be placed on a platform, though you can mount it on slats. You'll have to use twice as many slats as usual, not a problem. It sleeps very well. The springs are heavy duty. The mattress will not sag under you. At least, not if you use slats and use too few of them! The mattress is firm, which is good for your back. It is a twin XL mattress, meaning twin sized but wider. Two people can sleep on it together. Excellent!

This comes packed very tightly. You have to unroll it and then cut into the plastic wrap to let air in. The instructions say to let this lay flat for minimum of 48 hours to fully get it's proper shape before use. I highly recommend you do that. This does truly go to 12" in height so make sure you have sheets that can cover this; many mattress sheets aren't meant for this tall. This mattress is so incredibly comfortable. My wife, my daughter, and I all agree that this might be the most comfortable mattress we've laid on. While it's firm in general, there is a layer at the top that is more supportive; meaning it molds a bit to your shape but then will also maintain a firmness so you don't feel like you're being swallowed by it. Love this mattress!!

This mattress is a bit firm but very comfortable still. I let it sit out for about 48 hours before using it and once it was fully fluffed up we put it to use and myself and my kids love it.

Firmer mattresses are great for support, which is why I ordered this mattress. As I usually do with box mattresses, I waited 72 hours before using it to give it time to fully expand. Once the 3 days passed, we tried it immediately, and this mattress is perfectly comfortable. The firmness is perfect as it is not overly firm but firm enough to give needed support. The mattress looks good is comfortable and the price tag is great. I really appreciate that it is fiberglass-free. No complaints, I highly recommend this product.

The mattress came in a box. It was really easy to deflate - we just cut open the plastic and it unrolled easily. It's definitely 12 inches and my oldest son loves how comfortable it is. He's been sleeping on a spring mattress and this one is night and day better. It fits regular sheets and the navy blue makes it stand out nicely, but it's covered :(. Lastly, the quality of the mattress is really high. It's on par with way more expensive name brand items. We love it.
