This drone is great for a beginner because it's so much more stable in the air. It hovers well and a child can learn to control this without too much difficulty. Now the downside is that it's small and the battery life isn't great and also you can't do any long range or high altitude. That shouldn't matter if it's meant for beginners as doing anything like that will only increase the risk of losing the drone. I really didn't expect very much considering the small expense, but this is one little darling. It was received with partially charged batteries so I put it to a test and it performed beyond my expectations. The batteries drained after some usage, so I attached them to the charger.
