I find that, for fashion, one must typically sacrifice comfort, practicality, and durability. That is not the case with these shoes. They look great and feel great, too. Canvas shoes have flat bottoms and thus have no arch support. I have high arches, so usually flat soles translates into awkward stepping and discomfort. Not so with these shoes. I attribute this to how snugly they fit; when they're all laced up a large percentage of the surface area of the shoe is in direct contact with my foot. This means a large percentage of the mass of the shoe moves along with my foot, as opposed to being pulled along by the foot with each step. In a practical sense, this creates a "barefoot" effect, and indeed it feels like I'm not wearing any shoes at all. Additionally, they're well-aerated so my feet stay cool and don't sweat. The heel is high enough that the backs stay securely in place. They're light and very flexible. The fit was perfect; exactly as expected. Finally, they feel very solid, durable, and well-made. I wear an 11.5 shoe in most makes. I bought everything from a 9.5 to a 12 in the chucks trying to find the right size. The 10 was just too small and the 11 was too big. My experience is one entire size down is the money spot. And if that is a 1/2 size for you , you will not find them in a local store to try one. Surprisingly comfortable as well. ... show more

I have been a loyal Chucks-wearer for over 15 year. Bought my first pair back in high school and have always made sure that I have at least one pair. I bought these because I moved cross-country and left my other chuck behind. Long story short, the rubber toe separated from the canvas within about 6 months. This is INFURIATING because my the chucks that I left behind are over 10 years old, and are in WAY better condition.
