I use an umbrella when I walk on sunny days. I thought the pattern on this was on the inside and the outside but its only on the inside. The outside is all black. It "flips" a good bit in the wind but it's not too heavy -- that may be a trade-off.

I love nice weather but cannot be in the sun for a long time. Went to Disney with friends in July and I am soooo glad I bought this. Although it won’t make it cooler it does prevent nasty sunburns and reduce the amount of “cooking” You will experience from the direct sunshine. It was my life saver and now I bring it everywhere. I recently brought it to an outdoor concert and I had a lady ask if she could sit behind me to “steal” some of my shade. You can definitely notice a difference between having shade and not having shade.

Deducted one star because I can't do halfsies. The only negative was I ordered the purple flower but it's actually pink and blue. I guess if I twirl it fast it could be purple. 😄 It's still pretty. I took it to Lake Mojave, 110 degrees, and it was wonderful. Super wide to cover my whole body and my dog. It got windy and it bent upward a few times but did not break. Super sturdy. Keeping it in the back of my car.

It's a beautiful looking umbrella and I love the inside black cover that does a great job of blocking the sun. I live in a very hot summer climate and the sun is brutal. The first umbrella I received would no longer open and close after only a few uses. The seller promptly sent a replacement. When first opened, I noticed that one area was not fully extended, but folded downward a little at the end. I may not be using the proper terms but upon inspection, I found that a piece of the wire that shapes the umbrella was bent, I think, due to a very small piece that was missing/broken, which caused the bend inward. The wire in that spot is not fitted securely to the material. Due to a rare skin condition, sun protection is very important to me. I haven't decided whether to keep it or not. Compared to a typical umbrella, it does a much superior job of blocking the sun and I really need the protection. The bent section does not leave my body greatly exposed so I may try to make it work .

I just received this umbrella and took it outside because I live in the desert and it's a 105 outside right now. It does protect you from the sun, but it's pretty heavy, and it's very hot underneath the umbrella. I felt like I was walking in a cone of heat and I could feel the heat with my hand on the umbrella undersurface. When I took the umbrella away from me I didn't feel the heat except of course the sun on my head, but my whole body did not feel like it was enveloped in heat. Also it's a very heavy umbrella. It's compact but even though, it weighs a lot and would add some extra weight to my luggage or shoulder handbag. It's also a little heavy to hold and walk with. It's a short handle as some others have said and I can see fatigue setting in quickly. And I'm not a fragile person. I used to use a light colored compact regular umbrella you use to protect you from rain and those have worked fine in the past for the sun too. I just have to find mine, it's somewhere in a closet.
