  • The difficulty to use was the main factor for the single star. There are more than 8 other reasons~
I have never given a single star review that I can recall. There were so many things wrong with this item, I can only blame myself for the con's, I saw the price and should have known better. 1.This is pot metal. The shiney one you see in their pictures isn't this one. 2 It was HARD to press the clay out at room temp.! I even placed it under my back, against the mattress, so it would warm up the clay inside. 3 There are sharp edges everywhere. Use carefully! 4 It took about 45 minutes to clean this thing. I am worried that it has lead in it because even all that cleaning didn't insure my clay and hands were clean after using. Everything was dirty. It kept giving a carbon coating to everything. 5 The little shap maker disks were made so badly some couldn't be used for purpose. For instance, the one shown in the pictures, multi small holes...some of the holes were cut off by the edges so they came out as curved bottom triangles. 6 The plunger was a bad fit so the clay within the tube was nearly impossible to clean out because of how much clay was left behind. 7 The fact that the plunger was so loose caused the edges of it to scrape against the walls at a slight angle so it actually scraped metal into the clay. 8 The actual sizes of each templet hole(s) were not provided. I won't go on but for this last point, the difficulty to use was the main factor for the single star, all the rest was a given because of the price. My bad. The difficulty of use was a 8 of 10 so there should be a disclaimer posted by the seller which warns people with arthritis or otherwise painful hands should use their own judgement in buying this unit. ... show more

  • Poorly and cheaply made
I had one, and used it for years, but the plunger has started to bend, so I thought, I'll just order three more. What a mistake. The extruders themselves are made so poorly that I can't even remove the plunger from one, I can't unscrew the cap at all on the second one, and while I did get the cap unscrewed on the third one, now it won't screw back on. The extruder forms are made of flimsy aluminum, and bent the first time I used one. I'm returning two, because I used my good steel extruder form with the third one, and now the cap won't come off, so the steel form is stuck on it, so I have to keep it. I'm honestly shocked at how poorly made these things are. ... show more

  • Works if you know how
Tis is a cheap piece of equipment from China. it will not extrude anything that is near firm. Cake icing OK, I use it for clay and you must puta cylinder of moist clay in, if the clay is firm it is too hard to push out. And you must clean it after every use because the clay clogs up the tube. There is a good selection of bores. Im not sure why Amazon charged me sales tax when it came from China -took 7 weeks to get to California! ... show more

  • It is a decent item for the most part. ...
It is a decent item for the most part. I did have one small issue with one of the extruder metal insert. It broke with the first use. Looks to be faulty manufacturing. I have not used all of them yet but will update if more break. After writing this review I decided to check out the rest of the metal inserts. I found that one of them is actually quite bent and pretty much useless. ... show more

  • Hard to push
Works well, has slot of shapes, cleans easily enough. The biggest issue is pressing out the fondant. Have to use two hands to really push. I have hand problems but even my husband has problems. Will purchase the type that screws for more ease of use.

  • Pretty good tool...
Great in theory. A little hard to use. To change out the shape discs you must unscrew the cap at the end. Unfortunately, the screw threads are very difficult to line back up and it takes several tries. Other than that little issue, it works well.

  • I have fun messing around with this extruding strings of clay
Neat little tool. I have fun messing around with this extruding strings of clay. I wouldn't recommend putting too much clay or straining pressure when extruding with this little guy. despite being made of metal the thread on the extruder seems to give way if too much force is applied.
